Ben Griffin
Ben Griffin is having a magnificent season. The 29-year-old has made 18-of-22 cuts and he has produced 11 top-25 finishes, including a win at the Charles Schwab Challenge in May and a win at the Zurich Classic in April with Andrew Novak as his partner. Additionally, Griffin finished runner-up at the Memorial Tournament last month and he has finished inside the top-10 at both major championships he has competed at this season.
Griffin ranks sixth in the FedEx Cup standings and he has carded six straight top-15 finishes entering this week. During this six-start stretch, Griffin has gained strokes in every major category at all but one event. He ranks 12th in total strokes this season and there truly isn’t a blemish to Griffin’s game right now.
Griffin made his John Deere Classic debut last season and he had an excellent first attempt at TPC Deere Run, finishing T-5 while ranking fourth in SGP for the event. This par 71 features bentgrass greens and Griffin’s win at the Charles Schwab Challenge in May came at Colonial CC, which is another course that presents bentgrass greens. Griffin clearly has a knack for this type of putting surface and another encouraging factor is that he ranks second in total birdies this season, which bodes extremely well for TPC Deere Run, which is one of the easiest courses on the annual PGA TOUR schedule – six of the last seven John Deere Classic winners have shot -21 or better at TPC Deere Run.
Griffin sits 54 spots higher in the world golf rankings than when he first competed at TPC Deere Run last season and he faces a very weak field of golfers at the John Deere Classic this week. Griffin’s third win of the season is a strong possibility and deploying him in your OAD pool is a no-brainer. On DraftKings Sportsbook, Griffin is the favorite to win the John Deere Classic at +1600.
