Russell Henley
Henley is having a terrific season in 2025 with three top-10 finishes in five starts, including a T6 at the Cognizant Classic last week, in which he gained strokes in every major category at PGA National. The key to Henley’s success this season has been his improved work on the greens.
The veteran’s putting has been a serious Achilles heel at times during his career, but this season, Henley ranks 19th in SGP, which is the highest Henley has ranked in the category since 2015. To combine with his elite form as a putter, Henley has remained one of the best ball strikers in the world, ranking 29th in SG APP. Evident from his results this season, when both Henley’s irons and flat stick are clicking at the same time, he will always find himself high on leaderboards, especially at courses that present Bermuda greens, which is the type of putting surface he will face this week at Bay Hill.
Henley finished a career-best T4 at Bay Hill last season and, notably, all four of his PGA TOUR wins have come at venues with Bermuda greens. Furthermore, when we compare this field’s last 24 rounds at courses with Bermuda putting surfaces, Henley ranks sixth in strokes gained per round. The 34-year-old is a true Bermuda specialist and deploying him at a track that has this green type is a must. That being said, with the Arnold Palmer Invitational being third-to-last event of the Florida swing, we are running out of chances to use Henley on Bermuda grass. While all the courses for the Florida swing present Bermuda greens, only a few of the venues remaining on the schedule after the Florida swing are home to this type of putting surface.
The time is now to use Henley in your One and Done pool and his excellent season should continue with another high finish at Bay Hill.
