Scottie Scheffler
The time has finally come to deploy Scheffler in your OAD pool. The world No. 1 is obviously a great pick every time he tees it up, but there is no course in the world that better suits Scheffler’s game than Augusta National. This challenging long par 72 sets up best for elite drivers who dominate par fives and know how to draw the ball, or fade the ball if you’re left-handed. Scheffler is a master of all those things and his record unsurprisingly is spectacular at Augusta National.
The 28-year-old won last year’s Masters by four shots and he won the 2022 Masters by three shots. Scheffler owns a 9.8 average career finish in five starts at Augusta National and he is gaining 2.69 strokes per round at the world-famous venue, which ranks first among all the players in this week’s field that have competed in more than one Masters. Scheffler has shot under par in 15 of his 20 rounds at Augusta National, which is outstanding given this track presents a +2.12 average score to par since 2015, making it the ninth-most difficult course during this 10-year span. Not only does Scheffler flourish at Augusta National, but he ranks first in strokes gained per round when we compare this field’s last 50 rounds at all major championships.
As for his current form, Scheffler is coming off his best showing of the season. The former Texas Longhorn just finished runner-up at the Houston Open two weeks ago and he was only one stroke away from forcing a playoff. During this start, Scheffler gained strokes in every major category and he had two incredible rounds, with a course-record 8-under 62 on Friday and then a 7-under 63 on Sunday. For the season, Scheffler ranks third in total strokes gained and he has shot under par in 19 of his 24 rounds. Scheffler is in prime position to secure his third green jacket this weekend and using him in your OAD is a no-brainer for the Masters.
