Best Fantasy Golf One and Done Pick for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am

Collin Morikawa

After finishing T14th at last year’s AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in just his second attempt at the famous venue, Morikawa should contend for a win this week. The two-time major champion has been on the brink of winning recently, with two runner-up finishes in his last three starts. Most recently, Morikawa finished runner-up to Hideki Matsuyama at the Sentry earlier this month. During this finish, Morikawa gained strokes in every major category, and he carded a ridiculous 11-under 62 during the third round, which tied for the lowest score of the event and was one stroke away from tying Morikawa’s career low on the PGA TOUR. Furthermore, this marked the third time that the 27-year-old has shot 65 or lower in his last 12 rounds.

Morikawa is a Californian through and through, who was born in Los Angeles and went to college at Berkeley. Two of his six wins have come in his home state, and when we analyze this field’s histories in California, Morikawa ranks first in strokes gained per round.

His incredible iron play sets him up perfectly for a true second-shot course like Pebble Beach Golf Links. Morikawa ranks fourth in 400-450-yard par four efficiency over his last 50 rounds, which also bodes extremely well for this par 72, where five of the 10 par fours fall in this range.

Morikawa has a knack for playing his best golf in the strongest fields. With all the PGA TOUR’s best players in action this week, Morikawa likely won’t be a popular pick in your OAD pool, given his lack of experience at Pebble Beach. He carries the third-best odds to win the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am at +1400 on DraftKings Sportsbook, and this week is an excellent time to deploy Morikawa.
