Jackson Koivun
After an incredible career at Auburn, Koivun officially turned professional and joined the PGA TOUR last month. Koivun had one of the greatest collegiate careers of all time in his three years with the Tigers, winning 11 times – which is the most in Auburn’s history – including six victories in 2026. Koivun led the Tigers to two national titles in his three years and won 12 individual awards, including SEC Player of the Year in all three of his seasons.
Koivun was the top-ranked amateur in the world by a mile before deciding to turn professional. In just his 13th start at the PGA TOUR level, he won the 3M Open at TPC Twin Cities two weeks ago, three shots clear of world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who finished runner-up. In the second round, Koivun hit an absurd 305-yard approach shot on a par five, which led to him sinking an eagle putt for the lead.
Koivun has been awesome in his 10 starts at the PGA level over the last two years, finishing MC, T11, T6, T5, T4, T23, MC, T10, first and T31st. That T5 notably came in Koivun’s first attempt at Sedgefield CC for last year’s Wyndham Championship, when he was still an amateur.
Koviun shot a 5-under 65 in the third round and led the field in driving accuracy. Koviun has continued to be an extremely accurate driver this season, hitting 72.2% of fairways, which ranks second only to Russell Henley. This is a very encouraging sign for Koivun’s return to Sedgefield, as three of the last four winners at this course have finished the event top-eight in driving accuracy.
Sedgefield is a classic par 70 with 12 par fours, putting a heavy emphasis on par four performance – three of the last four victors here have finished the tournament top-five in par four performance – and Koivun passes this test with flying colors. The 21-year-old owns a par four scoring average of 3.92 on the PGA TOUR this season, trailing only Scheffler.
Koivun is a perfect match for Sedgefield and he should be very motivated this week, as he sits just 70th in the FedEx Cup standings. Only the top-70 following the Wyndham Championship will advance to next week’s playoff opening FedEx St. Jude Championship. Then, only the top-50 will advance to the BMW Championship in two weeks and only the top-30 will advance to the TOUR Championship in three weeks.
Earning a big chunk of points with a high finish this week would go a long way in Koivun’s quest to qualify for his first TOUR Championship, and the prodigy shouldn’t disappoint. Koivun presents +1850 odds to win the Wyndham Championship on DraftKings Sportsbook, which are the second-best odds behind only the defending champion, Cameron Young.
