Wyndham Clark
Clark has been a man on a mission lately. The former U.S. Open champion has finished T-21, T-16, MC, first and T-3 in his last five starts. That victory came at THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson three weeks ago and Clark ran away with a five-shot win to secure his fourth PGA TOUR victory. In his final round at TPC Craig Ranch, the 31-year-old carded a ridiculous 11-under 60, which matched Clark’s career low and tied for the lowest score on the PGA TOUR this season.
After the win, Clark didn’t slow down at the Memorial last week, finishing T-3 and just one shot out of the playoff between J.T. Poston and Ryan Gerard. Clark opened and closed the Memorial with a 5-under 65 at the challenging Muirfield Village. Furthermore, he led the field in SG APP, which is a very impressive accomplishment, as this was a Signature Event that featured the PGA TOUR’s best players competing for a $20 million purse.
Clark incredibly has shot 4-under or better in seven of his past eight rounds and he ranks second in total strokes gained when we compare this field’s last 24 rounds. Clark now heads to TPC Toronto for the RBC Canadian Open. He finished T-59 in his first start at this par 70 last season, but Clark was in a bad rut at the time, with his T-59 here being his fourth consecutive finish of T-50 or worse. Clark is playing world’s better golf now and is a strong match for TPC Toronto.
Clark ranks 10th in SG APP this season and when Ryan Fox won at TPC Toronto last season, he finished the week sixth in SG APP. This was TPC Toronto’s debut at the PGA TOUR level and 27.8% of the approach shots at the venue came from 200+ yards, which also bodes well for Clark, as he ranks 25th in proximity to the hole on 200+ yard approach shots this season.
Another encouraging sign is that before last year, Clark finished T-7 at St. George’s Golf and Country Club for the 2022 RBC Canadian Open, so he does have a high finish in Canada on his resume.
The scorching-hot Clark winning at TPC Toronto this week is a possibility and he may get overlooked in one and done pools with Tommy Fleetwood likely to be a very popular pick. On DraftKings Sportsbook, Clark carries the fourth-best odds to win the RBC Canadian Open at +2350.
