Devens is on the block for the first time this season, and he put himself there.
The two-time Survivor player volunteered as a pawn during Drew’s HOH, convinced the votes were locked in his favor. But Barrett has switched sides, Yash just eliminated Haley in the medieval twist, and the anti-Icon numbers may finally be there to do what no one has managed all summer — send a reality vet out of the Big Brother house.
Here’s everything to know about Thursday’s episode, including the air time, how to watch and what to expect from the BB Blockbuster and the first jury vote of Big Brother Season 28.
What happened last time on Big Brother Season 28?
Wednesday’s episode packed an entire week into one episode. The medieval twist concluded with Barrett defying the Icons and sending Yash along with LaLa to compete against Haley in the final competiton of the medieval twist. Yash won a crown-building puzzle and eliminated Haley, ending her game and officially tilting the house against the Icons for the first time all season.
Drew won HOH in a Zingbot-themed trivia competition, beating Yash and Melody in a tiebreaker. He nominated Yash, LaLa and Taylor — the safe, predictable move that Melody called embarrassing and lacking backbone. Yash won the Power of Veto in a gold-nugget balance beam challenge and used it on himself, forcing Drew to name a replacement.
Devens had been volunteering to go on the block as a pawn for days, hoping to prove what a good ally he was and to bolster his resume with a big move. Dee called it stupid,
The Icons tried to strong-arm Drew into nominating Melody instead. Angela told him the Crossovers were his “team.” Dee tried to Jedi mind trick him into proving his loyalty. It backfired — Drew said it reminded him how selfish Dee was being, and briefly considered nominating her as payback for putting him on the block last week. In the end, Drew took the easy road and put up the guy who asked to be there. And now Devens’ game is in imminent danger.

What to expect on Big Brother tonight
Devens on the block — and the math might not save him
Devens has played the entire season of Big Brother without ever sitting on the block. He’s manipulated HOHs, orchestrated evictions, used the Diamond Power of Veto and controlled the Crossovers’ hierarchy from the top with Dee. None of it put him in danger. Volunteering as a pawn did.
The vote math is where it gets dangerous. If Devens stays on the block, the anti-Icon side has Barrett, Yash and Melody as firm votes against him. They only need one more. Taylor or LaLa — whichever isn’t on the block — could be that vote. Dee and Angela could fight to keep Devens, and Drew breaks ties. But if Barrett’s defection is real, and Melody’s walls are up against the Icons like she says, four votes to evict Devens are very much in play. Not to mention that Dee and Angela’s loyalty to Devens has appeared limited on the Live Feeds this week.
Barrett said it himself: In Big Brother pawns go home. And Devens most certainly looks like he will be going home if he doesn’t win the BB Blockbuster.
The BB Blockbuster
Speaking of the BB Blockbuster, LaTrice, Taylor and Devens will compete for one final chance at safety before the live vote. The winner comes off the block, leaving two nominees for the house to vote on.
If Devens wins, the threat evaporates — Taylor and LaLa remain on the block, and once again the other side of the house loses a number. If Taylor or LaLa wins, Devens stays exposed, and the anti-Icon coalition gets its shot at the biggest target they’ve had all season.
Devens has never competed from a position of desperation. Every move he’s made this summer has come from comfort and control. The Blockbuster is the first time his game depends on his own performance rather than his influence over other people.
Barrett’s new game
Barrett’s defection is no longer theoretical. He sent Yash into the medieval twist against the Icons’ wishes, directly leading to Haley’s elimination. He told Melody he’s done playing the way he played the first half of the season and that if he wins HOH, the Icons should be nervous. He’s prioritizing Melody’s game over everyone else’s.
But Barrett is also stuck pretending. Drew is HOH, and Barrett can’t afford to push too hard or Drew will run back to the Icons. His reaction to Drew’s nominations was a sarcastic “Yay” in the diary room — he wanted Icons on the block and got the same predictable targets everyone expected.
The jury vote is Barrett’s real test. If Devens stays on the block after the Blockbuster, Barrett has to decide whether to cast a vote against one of the most powerful players in the house — with Drew sitting right there as HOH watching it happen. It seems like he is firmly planning to do just that, but given his reputation this season, it’s fair to believe it when you see it when it comes to Barrett taking a stand against the Icons.
Drew’s HOH and the Melody problem
Drew won power and immediately proved Melody’s point about him. She wanted backbone. He gave her the safest nominations possible. She warned him she’d use the veto against his wishes if she won it. He compared their situation to Romeo and Juliet. She is not impressed.
Drew’s ideal final six includes the Crossovers and Melody. The problem is those two things are incompatible — Melody wants the Icons gone, and Drew keeps protecting them. He considered nominating Dee as payback for Mallory last week, then backed off. He briefly considered nominating Melody, then backed off when Melody worked her “magic” in the HOH room. Drew keeps arriving at the edge of an independent decision and retreating to the safety of following orders.
If Devens goes home on Drew’s HOH, it will be the most significant thing Drew has done all season — and he won’t get any credit for it. He put Devens up because Devens volunteered, not because he wanted to make a move. The irony of Drew’s passivity accidentally delivering the anti-Icon side their biggest win would be enormous.
The first jury member
Whoever leaves Thursday becomes the first member of the Big Brother Season 28 jury. The jury phase changes the calculus — evicted houseguests now have a say in who wins $750,000. Sending Devens to jury means he sits there for the rest of the game with a vote, and the Icons lose the player who has arguably been running the Crossovers since Week 1. Sending Taylor or LaLa means the anti-Icon side loses another number and the Icons’ grip tightens heading into the back half of the season.
Yash in the clear
Yash won the veto, used it on himself, and is safe for Thursday. He pointed out to Drew after the ceremony that there were bigger moves available — reminding Drew that Yash never nominated him, while Dee did. Yash can’t nominate the Icons himself because of the BB Bribe deal, but he doesn’t need to. Barrett is doing the destabilizing. Melody is pulling Drew’s strings. All Yash has to do is vote, and he’s already said he can’t wait to send an Icon to jury.
