Who Was Evicted on Big Brother Tonight? Season 28 Week 5 Results

After a blindside last Thursday, it’s been a tough week for the Red Corner (yes, a real one, not whatever pseudo tough week Haley thinks she’s been having all season). Things looked like they could go from bad to worse tonight, with it all but guaranteed that either Haley or Chuk would be heading home.

Who would win the BB Blockbuster? And could the Red Corner pull off a Drew and Melody-style escape and somehow survive seemingly impossible odds?

Big Brother Season 28 Week 5 Results

Sunday’s episode began Week 5 of the summer-long competition, as a new Head of Household was crowned. For the first time this season, a member of the Toolshed DID NOT win the HOH comp, with LaTrice earning a shocking win over Kamu in the legendary Wall comp to become the new Head of Household.

This is the first time many of the members of the now seemingly-dead Toolshed alliance will have to fight from behind, so to speak, with the Red Corner in particular in serious jeopardy, as LaLa has nominated both Haley and Chuk.

Kamu won this week’s Power of Veto competition but chose not to use it, marking the first time this season the veto has gone unused. That left former allies Haley and Chuk on the block heading into Thursday night’s BB Blockbuster. Haley won the BB Blockbuster, leaving Chuk and Barrett on the block, with Chuk ultimately becoming the fifth person evicted in Big Brother Season 28.

Is another Big Brother vote flip brewing?

Coming off the Veto meeting, Chuk says his loyalty to Kamu is gone and if Haley leaves there will be hell to pay and everyone must pay for their sins. Meanwhile, Haley is frustrated because she says she would have used the veto on Kamu if the roles were reversed. But she’s channeling that frustration into the Blockbuster. Meanwhile, Barrett thinks he just has to be his best chill self up on the block with two bigger targets.

Taylor thinks Haley, who she confirms is still LaLa’s main target, is sucking the life out of the house and she has to go. Devens knows the whole house wants Haley gone, but asks is her leaving really the best thing for his game? He’s not so sure and wants to talk it out. Meanwhile, Barrett thinks worst-case scenario is Haley wins Blockbuster and they just have to settle for eliminating Chuk, but like Devens, Mallory also wonders if the better play is to keep Haley and send Chuk packing. Is the tide turning against Chuk?

If it is, he doesn’t sense it (shocker). He’s convinced he’s got the votes and is fine, but Taylor tries to coach him up a bit while delivering him the hard truth that if he’s up there against Barrett he’s going home. However, she’s not reaching him. Worse for her, she’s finding that coaching Chuk isn’t even Big Brother 101, but rather Big Brother for Dummies. I don’t think he got it.

Devens makes his pitch to Drew and Barrett to keep Haley over Chuk, and it seems like he’s looking to potentially marshall the votes to make it happen. Barrett even admits that if he had his way, Haley would stay. After all, she has a lot of enemies. Don’t look now, but we could have our second straight vote flip developing.

Barrett goes full Bar-rat

After nearly taking out LaLa with a knife and almost literally stabbing her in the back, LaLa flips it and metaphorically stabs her in the back, talking about how two of the Icons have to go before Jury. But after getting out Chuk, who should they target? Devens is here for fun, Angela is here for retribution and Dee already has her money from winning Survivor. Not to mention that none of the Icons have touched the block. Things that make you go hmmm.

Barrett thinks LaLa might be drunk on power — or wine — and may have said a little too much with Barrett in the room. He’s hungry and on the block, so he’s ready to be Bar-rat and goes running to Dee. He tells her that LaLa was leading the conversation, which turned pretty anti-Devens. He stretches the truth a bit to protect Drew, telling them that LaLa is saying that Devens is the most dangerous Icon in the game, which puts a target on her back.

Drew joins, as does Angela, and Barrett is running down the conversation again. Now, with that knowledge in hand, Dee is thinking that perhaps they should flip the vote to keep Haley since she would likely go after LaLa. Dee has flipped the vote once, and she’s not afraid to do it again. Dee has a simple message for LaLa — don’t mess with her.

How ’bout them apples?

That brings us to the BB Blockbuster.

Julie Chen Moonves previewed tonight’s BB Blockbuster, which required Haley, Chuk and Barrett to land five “apples” on a grassy platform before then knocking them off with stone balls.

After a slow start, Haley is the first to land five apples on her platform and outlasts Barrett to take herself off the block. Barrett also got the point where he could begin knocking his apples off and Chuk was nowhere close, finishing a distant third. So the house target took herself off the block, making the prospect of a house vote flip moot. Was Chuk right to think he had the votes to stay?

In a word, no.

Unsurprisingly, Haley stayed true to Chuk, who Julie correctly identified as her “one true ally” in the game. But that was all the support he would muster. After a week spent isolated with Haley, Chuk couldn’t play his way off the block in either the Veto comp or the BB Blockbuster nor campaign his way off in the live vote. So by a vote of 9-1, Chuk became the fifth houseguest evicted in Big Brother Season 28.
