Who Won HOH on Big Brother Tonight? Season 28 Week 9 Results

Barrett has spent weeks quietly drifting away from the Icons. On Sunday, he finally showed his cards.

After winning HOH, Barrett took the biggest swing of the season by nominating Dee, Devens and Angela together. But the Icons didn’t go quietly, exposing Yash’s BB Bribe deal and igniting a chaotic house meeting.

Big Brother Season 28 Week 9 Results

Sunday’s episode began Week 9 with a difficult ball-rolling competition that saw Barrett outlast the field and become the new Head of Household.

Barrett has become increasingly anti-Icon since Mallory’s eviction during Dee’s HOH, but his attempts to strike against the alliance had been thwarted by the BB Blockbuster. Now that he held the power, Barrett finally had the opportunity to show his cards—and show them he did. He took a big swing by nominating all three Icons for eviction. That’s right: Dee, Devens and Angela are all on the block together. Can one or more of them survive the Power of Veto and BB Blockbuster? Will this finally be the week an Icon is evicted? We’ll find out soon enough.

Big Brother Season 28 Episode 30 recap

The vote is over, but the drama isn’t

In the aftermath of LaLa’s eviction, Drew is feeling good about how his HOH played out – he showed loyalty to the Crossovers and loyalty to Melody. Devens is also thinking things went well for him — he got a Blockbuster win on his resume while doing a favor for all of his allies.

Barrett is feeling less great about Devens staying, but reveals he puts his thumb on the scale of who went home. He preferred LaLa going home, and in the aftermath of Devens’ win he decided to side with the Crossovers and vote out LaLa. He was able to reveal this to Yash, but not Melody (who voted out Taylor, which she says she will never admit to anyone). Dee is happy Devens stayed, but is still not happy with the relationship she sees growing between Devens, Drew and Barrett. Too strong, she says, and she’s going to break it up.

Yash is upset that the Icons got what they wanted again, and Barrett appears to have sided with the Icons … again. Yash has a life lesson for all you kids out there — if you’re a fanboy like Barrett or Drew and you’re glazing someone else, you’ll never be glazed yourself. Write that down.

Taylor is emotional about LaLa leaving, saying it’s the best friendship she’s ever experienced and whether she wins this game or not, meeting LaLa is the biggest thing for her to come out of this experience. Now she wants to win HOH and put all of the Icons up on the block.

Drew and Devens begin investigating who voted to evict Taylor, and Melody continues to lie and suggests it could be Dee. Drew brings this idea to Devens and the three talk about it and agree it could have been Yash. But, once out of earshot from Drew, Devens asks Dee again if she voted to evict Taylor. That makes Dee really mad, and she straight-up asks Devens whether Drew put the idea in his head. Dee thinks it’s stupid, because why would she lie about it when either leaving is good for her game. It’s sus to Dee and really pissing her off.

Somewhere over the rainbow

For the HOH competition, the houseguests are sent back to 1601 and the first St. Patrick’s Day parade. There, they play “Rainbow Rollers.” The goal is to roll balls one at a time down the rippled rainbow lane and into the matching color zone. If you match the ball to the corresponding zone, you move on. But if you put a ball in a zone with another ball already correctly matched, you have to remove both balls.

Barrett thinks we’ve reached the point in the game where he doesn’t necessarily have to show loyalty to any one group of people, while Dee is worried about “the boys club” and doesn’t want any of the three winning because she’s not about to play their game.

Everyone starts off slowly, with Barrett noting that it’s easy to get into a bad streak. Taylor wants to know who came up with this competition because they deserve jail time and Melody hates these balls, this rainbow, this comp … and everyone in it. Even Yash is struggling … which is actually good since he can’t nominate an Icon, anyway. He wants to get the L out of his system to make room for some Ws.

Finally, Barrett has a bit of a eureka moment, realizing that if he bounces the ball off the side of the wall it slows it down a bit and gives him more control over the speed. At the same time, Dee is also locking in and realizing that with a little bit of finesse and touch, you’ll find more success.

In the end, it comes down to Dee and Barrett. Dee gets to six balls in place first, and can taste another HOH. But, despite taking her time, she has a mishap and has to reset. Meanwhile, Barrett is right on her tail, however, and is determined not to let another chance to take out an Icon slip through his fingers. He basically wills his final ball into the corresponding zone to win the game and become the new HOH.

Barrett says this middle man finally has to make a decision … and everyone should be scared. He says they made a big mistake letting him win HOH, as him with power could be a problem. Let’s hope he doesn’t get a case of HOHitis.

Barrett puts the Icons on notice

Devens is feeling good about Barrett being HOH, feeling like he will take care of the alliance and it should be an easy week. Drew is thrilled his buddy finally got a win and thinks he’s probably safe. Dee is also happy that Barrett finally got a win … so long as he doesn’t do something stupid like put her on the block.

Barrett reveals to Drew that he plans to keep Drew and Melody safe. This is great news for Drew, until Barrett tells him that after those two, things could get a little weird. What about Devens? Barrett is noncommittal. Barrett admits in the DR that he wants to make a big move and have a little fun. Barrett wants to make a big move and he sees two potential options — getting out an Icon or getting out Yash.

Yash and Taylor are concerned. They think it’s not worth putting them up, but they’re afraid that Barrett could fall back into bad habits, and wind up back with the Icons. The silver lining for them is that Barrett’s HOH will finally force him to show his cards — is he with them or the Icons? Melody, for her part, hopes that unlike Drew, Barrett will do the smart thing and target the Icons. Melody would put up all three Icons, but tells Barrett to do what’s best for his game.

Barrett has a conversation with Devens that should ring alarm bells for the Survivor alum. Devens is excited, thinking it will be an easy week. Barrett again isn’t definitive, but admits he is considering putting up all three Icons or two of them and Yash. Devens understands why Barrett wants to make a big move, but thinks it’s too soon in the game and that Barrett could make enemies he doesn’t want to make. Barrett is just worried that the three will want to take each other to Final 3, given their shared situation and especially Devens’ shared history with Dee.

Strategically, Devens understands Barrett’s concerns, but he argues that it is too early to make such a big move. He pitches his alliance with Barrett and Drew as their clearest path to the end. Barrett admits Devens nearly sways him, but the conversation ultimately leaves him more determined than ever to put Devens on the block.

Icons cracking under the pressure?

With all three Icons potentially heading to the block, the question is how they will react to facing adversity for the first time this season. As it turns out, not well.

Devens and Angela get into a back-and-forth in the backyard, with both Icons feeling a certain sort of way about the conversation. Angela is confused why Devens felt like he had to do a temperature check on Barrett. He thinks she’s putting it on too strong in this conversation, but Angela doesn’t like how Devens talked to her and is paranoid that Devens is tighter with Drew and Barrett than with her and Dee. Devens, for his part, is frustrated by Angela living in a fantasyland and not realizing they have to go to work. Everything is not OK, he says in the DR. He leaves saying to himself that she’s a psycho and difficult to work with and she says to herself that he’s a son of a b****.

So after this blowup, Angela goes to Barrett looking for some affirmation that the Icons will be safe. She doesn’t get it. Barrett confirms he is considering putting all three Icons up on the block, saying it makes sense to put them all up together. He needs to play his own game and doesn’t know when he would get another chance like this to make a big move. Barrett says he hopes she doesn’t take it personally, but she says she does because they made a committment to each other. Angela is clearly emotional and says she didn’t expect this from Barrett. He says it doesn’t feel good to break Angela’s heart, but Angela is pissed because she feels like they’ve insulated Barrett the whole game and now he is taking a shot at them the first chance he got.

Of course, she goes right to Dee and reveals this information. And Dee is pissed too, as she claims Barrett is the only person she would not have turned on, even over Devens and Angela. She says he just pissed off a Latina, and that is not good. Dee ominously says all they can do is lock in and if they stay their time will come. And Barrett will be on the block.

The truth will set you free

Devens isn’t going to take this nomination lying down, however. He suggests to Dee it might be time to reveal the true nature of the BB Bribe and attempt to throw Yash under the bus. It just so happens Yash is up in the HOH with Barrett, so with nothing to lose the Icons go up and have a house meeting to blow stuff up.

Devens lays it out — if Yash wins HOH next week, none of the Icons is going up. The BB Bribe included all of the Icons, not just Dee. Yash tries to lie and say it only applies to Dee. Yash says he is going to lie and stand on the lie and hope that the people he rocks with will believe his lie. Taylor didn’t know this information, but thinks it shows that the Icons are bullies and forced Yash to do it. He did what he had to do and got paid $5K for it, so she’s not mad at it.

Devens thinks Yash might as well just own up to what he did, and Barrett is left wondering what kind of power this is. He was originally told it was just Dee that was protected under the BB Bribe, and is less than thrilled he wasn’t included in this protection. While he’s at it, Devens also points out that Yash tried to target Taylor last week. Drew doesn’t care who is lying; he’s just happy to push his “don’t-trust-Yash agenda.”

Revealing the BB Bribe’s true terms doesn’t change Barrett’s nominations, but it does produce an uncomfortable house meeting, make Yash sweat and plant seeds of doubt among his allies. They might be fine with the deal now, but what happens the next time Yash wins HOH and must nominate one of them instead of an Icon?

Welcome to the block

Despite these new revelations, Barrett sticks with the plan and nominates all three Icons, saying they’re the three biggest threats with a built-in bond. Maybe Yash can’t nominate an Icon, but he can.

Devens thinks Barrett would be better off sitting in a Final 3 with one of them than with the other side, and Angela continues to say Yash is lying, even going so far as to put it on her grandchildren that Yash is lying.

Another combustible nomination ceremony closes the episode on a “to be continued” cliffhanger. We already know what awaits the houseguests Wednesday: the iconic BB Comics competition. Buckle up, everyone—it’s going to be a wild week.
