The big twist of the season is here and it is making for an unusual week in the Big Brother house.

Julie announced at the end of the 1,000th episode that there will be no HOH competition, no Power of Veto and no BB Blockbuster this week — but someone will still be eliminated before the next live eviction. The Live Feeds have been dark since Thursday.

Here’s everything to know about Sunday’s episode, including the air time (it’s later than usual), how to watch and what to expect heading into the most unpredictable episode of Big Brother Season 28.

What happened last time on Big Brother Season 28?

Drew won the BB Blockbuster and took himself off the block, leaving Mallory and Taylor as the final nominees. Barrett turned on the Icons and tried to organize a vote flip to save Mallory — recruiting Melody, Yash, Taylor and LaLa — but Drew’s Blockbuster win and subsequent decision to vote with the Icons sank the plan. Mallory was evicted 6-2, with only Barrett and Melody voting to keep her.

The Mosh Pit is dead. For The American People lost Mallory and Drew chose the Icons over that alliance. This week’s power rankings dropped him to dead last for that move, calling it a “sliding doors moment” that will leave him as nothing more than the bottom of the Crossovers.

Barrett, on the other hand, jumped three spots for finally waking up. He turned Bar-rat against the Icons for the first time, revealing to Mallory that she was the target and trying to organize the blindside. It failed, but the power rankings credit him for seeing the light before it was too late — he’s now positioned to slide to Yash’s side of the house with Melody.

Devens overtook Dee for the No. 1 power ranking spot. Dee dropped two spots after a messy HOH that accomplished her goal (Mallory evicted) but cost her Barrett, Melody, and potentially the Mosh Pit’s numbers — all while falling for Yash’s lies about Drew over her own ally’s word. Yash jumped to No. 2 for effective if grimy gameplay that got Drew nominated, secured the BB Bribe deal, and positioned him to inherit Barrett and Melody.

What to expect on Big Brother tonight

The mystery twist

Julie’s announcement was deliberately vague: no HOH, no veto, no Blockbuster — but someone’s game ends before the next live eviction. The Live Feeds have been dark since Thursday, which means production doesn’t want viewers to know what’s happening inside the house.

Last season, the White Locust twist saw Rachel Reilly evicted without ever seeing the block or a vote, and some fans are immediately dreading something similar. Thursday’s tease included the return of four Big Brother alumni as the houseguests are being sent back to the medieval era.

The feeds being down suggests whatever it is involves a format that would be spoiled by live viewing. Either way, every houseguest walked into this week blind, with no way to prepare or campaign based on known rules.

The house after Mallory

Ten houseguests remain and the lines are drawn more clearly than at any point this season. The Crossovers (Dee, Devens, Angela, Drew) are the Icon power base — minus Barrett, who defected. Barrett and Melody are now free agents drifting toward Yash’s side. Taylor, LaLa and Yash represent the anti-Icon opposition. Haley is still technically unattached, but leaning more toward the Icons.

The twist lands at a moment where the house could tip either direction. If the elimination mechanism favors individual performance or social positioning, the playing field is level in a way it hasn’t been since Week 1.

Devens at No. 1

Devens returns to the top of the power rankings for the first time since Week 3. The reasoning: he pitched the Mallory nomination, executed it through Dee, mostly avoided blame (Mallory and Melody directed their fury at Dee, not him), and manipulated Drew and Barrett with a “father knows best” routine that revealed how completely he controls the Crossovers’ hierarchy.

Devens also benefits from the BB Bribe deal protecting him during Yash’s next HOH. He no longer has the Diamond Power of Veto, but his social positioning and reputation as a threat haven’t translated into actual nominations yet. He’s played the entire season from a position of influence without ever sitting on the block. The twist could change that, but heading in, Devens is the best position in the house.

Drew’s island

Drew is ranked dead last among the remaining players in our power rankings. He won the Blockbuster but voted out Mallory — likely against his best interests. The power rankings call it a “sliding doors moment”: voting against Taylor would have been scary and made the Icons angry, but it would have freed Drew from their influence and given him a chance to rebuild with Barrett and Melody.

Instead, Drew is stuck. He’s all-in on the Crossovers by default because he burned every other bridge. Barrett turned on him. Melody is losing trust. Yash calls him “spineless” and blames him most for Kamu’s eviction. Drew’s only allies are people who view him as expendable — the Icons have been quietly gunning for him for weeks and could toss him aside at any moment.

Barrett and Melody’s new path

Barrett finally broke from the Icons — voting to save Mallory, revealing the target to her, and trying to organize a blindside. It failed, but the act itself mattered. He jumped three spots in the power rankings for it. The assessment: he saw the light just soon enough to find a lifeboat and move to Yash’s side with Melody before it was too late.

Melody voted to keep Mallory over Taylor and appears like she could be done with Drew. The power rankings suggest that if Barrett and Melody flip to the Yash-Taylor-LaLa side, it creates a genuine numbers challenge for the Icons. The For The American People alliance is effectively dead — but its surviving members may end up on opposite sides of the house going forward.

LaLa’s comeback

LaLa jumped five spots to No. 6 in the power rankings after winning the Power of Veto and taking herself off the block. She’s won two comps this season (the Wall and the veto), reached a détente with Devens, and is no longer the easy target she appeared to be a few weeks ago. The power rankings note that the idea of LaLa winning “no longer feels quite as ludicrous as it did a few weeks ago.”
