Who won the Power of Veto on Big Brother tonight? Season 28 Week 7 Results

It’s time for another Power of Veto competition, and Drew’s life in the game is on the line — even if he doesn’t know it. But after blowing up Taylor and LaLa’s games at the nomination ceremony, Drew may have finally done enough to shift Dee’s target elsewhere.

Can Drew survive the week? Or will Taylor or LaLa become the latest casualty of the Icons’ control?

Big Brother Season 28 Week 7 Results

Sunday’s episode began Week 7 of the summer-long competition, as a new Head of Household was crowned. And coming out of a Viking-themed balance beam comp, Dee outlasted the field to become the new Head of Household.

A week after facing her first real danger of the season, Dee is back in power. She’s been at the top of my power rankings all season, and now seems primed to ensure the Icons continue to dominate the game, thanks in part to Devens’ use of the Diamond Power of Veto last week. Can Dee further the Icons’ agenda? We’ll have to see how this week plays out!

Big Brother Season 28 Episode 24 recap

The Drewth, the Whole Drewth and Nothing But the Drewth

After ending Sunday’s episode on something of a cliffhanger, we picked back up tonight during a combustible nomination ceremony. Drew turned the tables a bit on Taylor and LaLa, saying they were talking about putting up the Icons. They both deny this, but Melody reveals that they actually did talk about it, even if at one point Taylor left the conversation. LaLa actually talked about putting two Icons! But no one wants to publicly admit that they want to put the Icons.

Drew wants everyone to be for real. Taylor admits that she talked about that with Melody, Mallory and LaLa, but not when he was there. LaLa tries to deny that she was going to put the Icons, only saying Devens’ name, but Barrett and Drew give chapter and verse and surprisingly Yash sort of backs them up. He says LaLa did bring up the Icons … but Taylor wasn’t there and Drew agreed with it. Still, she’s trying to stick to her story of saying she only meant Devens, continuing to call Drew a sneaky little liar. But he says he’s only telling the “drewth,” which LaLa does not find amusing.

Basically, everyone is stretching the truth in a bid to save themselves this week. But in calling out LaLa and Taylor, it actually shifts Dee’s focus off Drew as he finally picked a side. Now she is thinking maybe it’s time to break up Taylor’s growing friendship with Yash. Meanwhile, the fight continues, to Devens’ excitement and Angela’s disappointment, extending into the backyard where LaLa continues to call Drew a liar. Even if she’s not telling the whole truth, she’s not going to roll over and let him throw her under the bus. But despite all the drama, Drew continues to think his “drewth” actually worked well for him (which it sort of did).

LaLa tries to do some damage control

LaLa is still emotional, but Angela tries to reassure her that they’re OK. She just wants her to tell her the truth. LaLa continues to sell that Drew is lying, but Barrett and Yash backed Drew up. But Angela knows that when LaLa says “Icons” she doesn’t mean Angela. And honestly, she’s OK with other people seeing the Survivor stars as bigger threats and it helps her to keep other houseguests in the house that are on her side.

Melody thinks nominating Drew is a shot at the For the American People alliance by the Icons and a stupid game move. But what happens if Drew — or someone else — comes off the block? Would she put up another member of the Mosh Pit? Drew says no, but Mallory isn’t buying it and is spiralling a bit. She really wishes she hadn’t thrown the HOH comp, and also regrets not speaking up in the nomination fight. Take note of those thoughts.

LaLa continues to say that she never said the Icons names, but she doth protest too much. And Dee does not believe her. But LaLa says she can’t wait to see Drew leave and see Melody and Mallory crumble. She admits she’s said Angela’s name, but she was never her target. And now she has to do major damage control with Dee.

Later, Taylor joins LaLa in the hammock. She says it’s frustrating to be on the block over lies, noting that she went the shower specifically because once LaLa started the conversation it was going to become something. They’re both looking to use the anger as fuel for the fire when it comes to the veto but one thing is for certain … they HATE Drew.

Mosh Pit problems?

Amid all the house drama, Barrett and Angela are selected to play in the Veto comp. Barrett confirms he’d be more than happy to take Drew off the block, and Drew confirms that he’s going to try to win the veto even if Dee plans to keep noms the same if she wins. LaLa, meanwhile, campaigns to Angela to save her with the Veto if she wins. For her part, Angela is actually fine using the Veto on LaLa and not her nominal ally Drew … so long as Dee is cool with it.

Devens thinks with the way the veto pull went, it’s likely that the Power of Veto will be used. With that in mind, he begins to think about who could be the replacement nom. Given the deal with Yash, they don’t want to put him up. Haley is also the most likely person to go after Taylor and LaLa. So that leaves someone from the Mosh Pit, specifically … Mallory. She’s popular in the house, a threat to the Icons and not devoted to the Mosh Pit in Devens’ mind. The more and more he thinks about it, he doesn’t trust Mallory, but he has to run it by Angela, who is totally down. Devens is determined to break up the For the American People alliance, as they have the majority in the Mosh Pit. He wanted to get more mileage out of the Mosh Pit, but it did what they wanted in evicting Kamu and the time has come to get out a bigger threat in Mallory.

Devens pitches to Dee, saying he’s more threatened by Mallory than Taylor. Dee says it would be stupid to ignore the FAP alliance and the boys’ ties to Melody and Mallory, but her preference is still to keep the nominations the same. All the same, Drew and Barrett really have done Melody and Mallory a disservice by so easily revealing all their FAP secrets to the Icons. Doing so has put Melody and Mallory in the crosshairs of the Crossovers and could prove to be fatal to the FAP alliance.

Momentum is growing for Mallory to hit the block and it becomes more and more clear that she really shouldn’t have thrown that HOH comp.

LaLa Feels the Burn

The veto comp sends the houseguests back to the neon-filled world of 1982. Barrett is correct when he says the set looks like a 1980s workout video exploded. It’s time for the houseguests to play “Feel the Burn.”

For each round the contestants must complete the highest number of reps on their workout machine. The player with the lowest number of reps will be eliminated.

The first round sees the houseguests take on the booty scooty and it is … something else. I think Devens speaks for everyone when he says he’ll never be able to look at Drew the same again. Unfortunately for Drew, he is also one of the two players (along with Angela) with the fewest reps, and therefore is eliminated.

The second round sees the houseguests workout on the hip-to-hip extreme. After slamming their bodies side to side, these hips don’t lie, and Dee is eliminated.

That leaves Taylor, Barrett and LaLa competing for the Power of Veto. And they’re working out the most important muscle in Big Brother — their tongue. The totally tubular tonguetwister will determine the winner and who gets the Power of Veto. They have to move a lever from left to right using only their tongues, and everyone reacts about how you’d expect to this very strange competition. In the end, it’s mind over matter for LaLa, who does the 1980s proud and brings home the Power of Veto.

But where does that leave nominations? LaLa is about to take herself off the block, and Devens thinks his plan to put Mallory up on the block is about to come to fruition.

The Mosh Pit isn’t for everyone

With Kamu gone, Haley has been left on an island. Dee knows this and has been doing work to pull her toward her side in the game. Haley also wants to nominate Mallory as a replacement for LaLa, which only further convinces Dee that this is the right move. But first she wants to call up Drew to try and see if she can get him to give them a reason to nominate Mallory or soften the blow when they do put her up.

Devens knows they while want to put Mallory up, they also want to keep Drew and Barrett on their side. Unfortunately for Dee and Devens, Drew isn’t biting. So it’s back to figuring out a way to make them OK with the move. Dee decides that since both Drew and Barrett will expect her to put up Yash and they already know about her BB Bribe power, she is just going to reveal that she made a deal with him. She doesn’t tell the full truth — she leaves out the part about the other Icons being safe — but she’s using this as an excuse as to why she won’t put Yash up. And then she soft launches nominating Mallory, to Drew’s displeasure. Drew understands that Mallory is playing the middle, but he’s beginning to question what the point of the Mosh Pit was. He’s (rightfully) wondering why not Yash or Haley. It’s all leading him to question Dee’s devotion to the Mosh Pit, and even the Crossovers.

Next comes the harder part — selling Barrett on nominating Mallory. She tells Barrett that Taylor is still her target, but what happens if Taylor wins the Blockbuster? Barrett doesn’t really want Mallory on the block, and is incredibly frustrated that the Mosh Pit is potentially going to have two members on the block with Haley and Yash somehow safe. Unfortunately for FAP, Barrett rolls over — like he always seems to do with Dee — and says it’s fine. Being a member of the Mosh Pit has been rough for everyone but the Icons.

Father knows best

Drew and Barrett commiserate and question their place with the Icons. Barrett says seeing two of his best friends being put up by an ally is a slap in the face, and Drew says that Dee has been nothing but bad for his game. They’ve been doing a lot of work for the Icons, and now the Crossovers alliance feels dead for them.

Unfortunately for them, they said all of this with Devens within earshot. Drew is in big trouble. Luckily for them, Devens didn’t hear all of it. But unfortunately for them, he heard enough that he knows they were saying stuff he would not want to hear. Now he has to figure out a way to shake it out of them. He compares it to being a dad and knowing your kids did something wrong and waiting for them to come clean. And right on cue, his two boys come in and try to fix things with dear old dad. His plan is working to perfection, right down to him feeling like he is looking at his own kids. He’s not mad, he’s just a little disappointed. But, he’s not going to ground them, but their friend can’t stay over … meaning Mallory is going to have to go.

Dee comes right out and tells Mallory that she is going on the block. She tries to make an argument as to why she’s not nominating Haley or Yash, and while Mallory promises that she wouldn’t put Dee up if she were HOH, it’s not enough. It’s awkward, because Dee and Mallory don’t interact much, but it’s happening. The whole conversation leaves Mallory completely dumbfounded as to why Dee would make an enemy out of her when they’re supposed to be allies. And even more frustrating because Mallory knows she could have beaten her in the HOH comp! The moral of the story, kids, is don’t throw comps — it never ends well. What’s done is done, and Dee is dead to Mallory, who gets emotional in the diary room and says that if she survives Dee will be her No. 1 target.

RIP Mosh Pit

Mallory is pissed at Barrett because he convinced her to trust Dee, and Melody is pissed at Dee, calling her a coward, saying the Survivor winner is choosing the path of least resistance (and least blood on her hands) by nominating Mallory.

In the end it’s all a foregone conclusion, as LaLa uses the Power of Veto on herself and Dee subsequently puts Mallory up on the block. The Veto meeting is done and so is the Mosh Pit. Which is fine with Dee, since her loyalty is with the Icons and not the Mosh Pit. Dee says it’s nothing personal, but it sure doesn’t feel that way to Mallory who is SCREAMING mad in the diary room, proclaiming that she hates Dee and that the Survivor players are the worst allies ever.

But can she turn that anger into fuel to win the BB Blockbuster? And who will go home in the landmark 1,000th episode of Big Brother? We’ll have to tune in Thursday to find out.
