The Phoenix Suns have finally entered the Play-In Tournament picture, climbing to the 10th seed by virtue of a tiebreaker over the Dallas Mavericks with 12 games to play. All it took was for the Mavericks to trade Luka Dončić for Anthony Davis, who subsequently got hurt, and to lose half of their rotation to […]

As the Boston Celtics chase their second consecutive NBA title, which would put them two ahead of the Los Angeles Lakers for the most in NBA history, their charge is once again being led by Jayson Tatum. His stats this season — 27.1 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 5.9 assists on slightly above-average efficiency — are […]

Last season marked the ascendance of Tarik Skubal, as the southpaw opened the 2024 season as an extremely solid pitcher and Cy Young Award contender but not quite an outright star. His splendid summer put that conversation solidly in the rear-view mirror, and he raced to the honor unanimously, leading the American League in wins […]

UPDATE: Grizzlies guard Desmond Bane is questionable for tonight’s contest with a back injury. The Western Conference playoff picture is going to come down to the wire. The Indiana Pacers currently have the upper hand in the three-team race for the East’s fourth seed, while the Milwaukee Bucks chase them. In the West, the Los Angeles Lakers currently hold the third seed but will […]

The NBA is filled with young superstars, most hailing from outside the US. The top three young Americans are clear — Jayson Tatum, followed by Donovan Mitchell and Anthony Edwards in some order. But is the fourth-most promising American prospect — with both the experience and the mettle to retain the Olympic gold medal when […]

The Los Angeles Lakers’ 123-100 victory over the Denver Nuggets on February 22 felt like a statement that the Lakers were for real. In that game, Luka Dončić enjoyed his first good game in the purple and gold, dropping 32 points and adding 10 rebounds and seven assists. Nearly a month later, the teams are […]

The Dallas Mavericks have provided every possible opportunity for the Phoenix Suns to make the playoffs — trading Luka Dončić and seeing Kyrie Irving suffer a season-ending torn ACL — and yet Phoenix hasn’t done it. The Mavericks are legitimately at risk of becoming the first team to ever have to forfeit an NBA game […]
