Who Was Evicted on Big Brother? Week 4 Results, Recap

It’s live eviction night on Big Brother, and despite seeming like an open and shut case earlier in the week, things have taken a bit of a turn in the house (which you would already know if you’re reading my live feed recaps).

Can Drew go from a surefire eviction to safe for another week? Does his top ally Melody have any shot to stay if she doesn’t win the BB Blockbuster? Has Lyric overplayed her hand to the point where she will have campaigned herself right out of the house? And can we finally get something of a close vote instead of a rout?

Big Brother Season 28 Week 4 Results

Sunday’s episode began Week 4 of the summer-long competition, as a new Head of Household was crowned. The Toolshed once again grabbed power for the week, with Haley earning the HOH key.

Haley suffered a bit of HOHitis, with her “my way or the highway” ethos rubbing some people the wrong way. Taylor was able to capture the Power of Veto, forcing Haley to nominate a fourth houseguest for eviction, who turned out to be Lyric.

Big Brother Season 28 Episode 15 recap

With friends like this, who needs enemies

So far this season, we’ve had three straight blowout votes to evict. And in the last two weeks production has done their best to throw us off the scent by giving false hope that the target (Rome and Jason) may not be a lock to go home. If you’ve been following the live feeds this week, however, you’ve seen the shift in the votes. Which could be good for Drew.

Dee is cognizant that she has to worry about her game first, and while Kamu is OK with Drew going, he also still has a Final 2 with him. So if Drew stays, it’s business as usual in Kamu’s mind.

Meanwhile, Lyric tries to gain back some sympathy from the Giggle Girls by claiming that she was made to throw Mallory under the bus. She turns on the waterworks, but Melody isn’t buying it and is getting tired of Lyric at this point, especially the empty platitudes and promises she has been making about solidarity.

Speaking of allies, Barrett recognizes that it’s bad for his game for Drew to go home, but he can’t risk telling Drew and having him blab about it. Drew seems likely to go home and Devens still sees him as a liability, but admits he’s also got a little voice in his head asking if it’s really a good idea to evict Drew.

The devil you know is better than the devil you don’t

Devens isn’t the only Icon with a little voice in their head questioning the plan to blindside Drew. Dee has been on board with taking him out, but begins to question if he’s really more of a problem for the Red Corner than the Icons. And they’re going to need him to take a shot at the Red Corner, so why are they taking him out?

So Dee pitches Devens on keeping Drew. She says everyone will target him and he’s closer to the Icons than the Red Corner. Devens wonders how they can convince the Red Corner, but Dee is convinced they can influence the Red Corner. Devens does see Drew as a competitor they can control, and ultimately he trusts Dee’s instincts. Dee pitches the idea to Angela with all of the same reasoning, which seems like it should be a no go since she’s been itching to get Drew out for weeks. But she’s open to the idea, especially since they can get him out whenever they want.

So the Icons all gather and discuss the pros and cons of keeping Drew, but Devens wants to make sure the rest of the Toolshed is on board. So he thinks they have to make it seem like it is the Red Corner’s idea. So they begin a soft pitch with Haley and Chuk, noting he’s the least likely to put them up or want to win an HOH. This seems to make sense to Haley and it appears the Red Corner is open to keeping Drew around. Devens thinks it will be closer either way, but the Survivor player in him says America should be ready for the first ever live Tribal.

Prehistoric puzzle puts the pieces in place

That brings us to a pivotal BB Blockbuster.

Ahead of tonight’s BB Blockbuster, Julie Chen Moonves previewed the two-layered puzzle challenge that awaits Drew, Melody and Lyric with the help of actor/comedian and Big Brother fan Jay Mohr.

In the end, Drew is the first to put the pieces together and finish their puzzle, earning his safety. That leaves Melody and Lyric on the block, negating the drama of whether or not the Toolshed would blind Drew.

But as Julie noted, the target over the last 24 hours has been in flux between Melody and Lyric. Yash has a Final 2 with Lyric and she has been close with Kamu and Chuk. Plus there is no love lost between Haley and Melody clearly. But, just earlier today the Icons seemed to have coalesced around a plan to save Melody and evict Lyric.

So, it looked like we could get our first genuine nailbiter of the season as well as a major rupture in the Toolshed.

Aloha means goodbye

After Melody says something in her final speech that gets her bleeped (Julie tsk tsks and reminds the cast not to curse), the vote began and the first three votes all go to evict Lyric, and that’s BEFORE the Icons step in the diary room.

Following the commercial break, it becomes clear that the Icons’ plan to blindside Lyric and, really, the Red Corner will be successful. After all the Icons have voted, Lyric is officially evicted before the men of the Red Corner can vote. In the end the final vote is 8-3 and Haley looks GAGGED. You can also see Chuk asking what happened. This clearly was not the plan they had going into the vote. We’ve got our first blindside of the season.

For her part, Lyric is not surprised. She when you have a player who has won competitions and one who hasn’t, the one who has won is the one who will go home. She’s not surprised that Chuk and Kamu tried to protect her, but grateful to everyone in the house. She admits she made a mistake to throw her friends under the bus with the thought that it would engender trust with Haley. But in the end, the majority alliance was even bigger than she thought (Julie reveals it was an eight-person group, not the six-person group Lyric thought) and it got her in the end.

And what about Rome? Lyric says their love story is the real deal and she can’t wait to see him on the outside. And, yes, Julie will be invited to any wedding that may happen.
