Who Won the Power of Veto on Big Brother Tonight? Season 28 Week 9 Results

The Icons have spent most of the season in control. But after Barrett put all three on the block Sunday, the vets suddenly had to play from behind.

Could one of them win the Power of Veto and derail Barrett’s long-awaited big move? Nope. Yash won yet another Veto competition and chose to leave nominations the same, guaranteeing that Dee, Devens or Angela will go home Thursday.

Big Brother Season 28 Week 9 Results

Sunday’s episode began Week 9 with a difficult ball-rolling competition that saw Barrett outlast the field and become the new Head of Household.

Barrett has become increasingly anti-Icon since Mallory’s eviction during Dee’s HOH, but the BB Blockbuster had repeatedly thwarted his attempts to strike at the alliance.

Now that he held the power, Barrett finally had the opportunity to show his cards—and show them he did. He took a big swing by nominating all three Icons for eviction. That’s right: Dee, Devens and Angela are all on the block together.

Making matters worse for the Icons, Barrett selected Yash to play in the Veto comp, which he proceeded to win. Yash’s decision not to use the Power of Veto locked all three Icons on the block, ensuring that Dee, Devens or Angela will face the BB Blockbuster and that at least one Icon will be evicted Thursday.

Big Brother Season 28 Episode 31 recap

Crossing Out the Crossovers for Good

We pick back up at the conclusion of the nomination ceremony, with Angela and Yash going back and forth over the nature of the BB Bribe he accepted. After a back-and-forth about who they were willing to swear on, Yash gets in a little dig about expecting older people to be more mature while Angela reveals that his lies will cost him her jury vote. Drew jumped in to bring back up the Taylor vs. LaLa vote, even if he was lying.

Yash is continuing to lie about the BB Bribe because he is afraid of what the truth would do to his relationships in the house, but he isn’t thrilled that Drew is jumping into the conversation. Meanwhile, Melody is happy to sit back and let Yash take the fall for her vote to evict Taylor. Angela promises she’s not going to let Yash run circles around her, and he lands the TKO with a hilarious line asking if she wants a cookie. And with that, the nomination ceremony is adjourned.

Barrett says that rather than changing his mind about nominating the Icons, their move to reveal the BB Bribe deal only showed how insulated they’ve been. Meanwhile, Dee is pissed that after a season where they’ve carried Barrett, he’s the one to put them on the block. She, Devens and Angela all promise they are coming for Barrett if he stays, while Barrett promises that this is the end of the Crossovers.

This is not what Drew wanted, as his two closest allies are now at war and staying in the middle is becoming more and more impossible. Drew has been the one the Icons have been suspicious of all season, but Devens now realizes it was Barrett that the Icons should have been worried about. He says the Icons now have no choice but to roll with Drew. Things also aren’t good between Dee and Devens, with her still believing that Devens is too close to Barrett and Drew. They argue over whether Drew knew in advance about the nominations, and after she tells him to open his eyes, he gets pissed and tells her not to talk to him like he’s an idiot. He wants to at least be able to offer an opposing point of view and the idea that maybe it doesn’t make sense to cut Drew because Dee thinks he may be disloyal (which he hasn’t been).

And the behavior of the Icons is annoying Barrett, who thinks the other people on the block this season haven’t acted like this, like spoiled children whose allowance was taken away. Especially as Devens grills Barrett a bit in the backyard about how long he had been planning to take his shot. Barrett says the Icons are a good trio, but Devens bites back by saying he thought he, Drew and Barrett were a good trio too.

No matter whose side you are on, it’s clear that the Icons are not taking being on the block well, and that puts them in a perilous position heading into perhaps the most impactful Veto comp of the season.

The Icons regroup—and Yash comes clean

Dee somehow says she loves being on the block, but tells the camera that Barrett made his move too early. She says he should have only put up two Icons, but no matter, she’s coming for Barrett. And she’s going to cut the 6-6 scoreboard operator down to size, like a snail when you sprinkle salt on it.

Taylor is still rocking with Yash, but she definitely wants to get to the bottom of the BB Bribe. After another half-hearted attempt to lie, Yash finally admits to her that he can’t nominate any of the Icons. She’s happy Yash told her the truth, and she’s going to take the secret to the grave. Meanwhile, Yash’s plan is to comp out, specifically in the Veto comps. Put him in coach, he wants to play. So he goes to Barrett and tells the HOH that if his chip is pulled, pick him to play. Barrett was considering nominating Yash, but after hearing his pitch and knowing that Yash wants the Icons gone as badly as he does, he’s seriously considering it.

Meanwhile, Dee and Devens reconnect and Devens says their argument is a nothing burger and they’re going to focus their energy on making Barrett feel the pain. After all, they’ve played these games before, so Barrett better watch out as Dee is fired up and Devens’ secondary goal to winning his safety is to blow Barrett’s game apart. Watch your back, Barrett — whichever Icons remain are coming at you. HARD.

Barrett’s broken promises crack his bond with Drew

After the ballad of Drew’s hairbrush (which, if you watch the Live Feeds, you know was actually from a few weeks ago), we see Drew talking to Barrett about picking him to play the Veto comp and potentially put up Yash as a renom. That sounds great to Drew, who sees Yash as the biggest threat in the house, but Barrett reveals he’s reluctant to do that because he doesn’t want an Icon to come off the block. So he’s really just hoping his chip isn’t selected…

…Which, of course, guarantees that his chip is picked. Now he has the dilemma on who to pick to play. Barrett promised both Yash and Drew that he would pick them, and in the end he picks Yash, much to Dee’s chagrin. Angela’s chip is picked next and she’s conflicted. She’s considering Drew and Taylor, but chooses Taylor, thinking she would be easier to beat. The combination of these two selections is not great news for Drew, who feels some sort of way about being overlooked by two of his allies. Barrett comes out to the backyard and Drew is pissed because he feels like Barrett has been lying to him. He says he would have kept the nominations the same if Barrett wanted it, but now we’ll never know for sure what he would have done and he’s pissed.

Amid all this drama, Angela and Devens stop by and come at Barrett for picking Yash, while Drew mouths that he’s mad. Devens sees this and has Drew reveal who he’s mad at. And he reveals he’s mad at Barrett and discusses their conversation in the HOH room about how he would have wanted to take down Angela and put up Yash (who Drew is still targeting, point blank). Drew tries to put on a good face and say he’s good, but he admits in the diary room that he doesn’t trust anyone and furthermore, he doesn’t even like anyone at this point. Tough times for the Kid.

Yash flies to another Veto win in BB Comics

It’s time for the Veto comp, and the houseguests are sent back to … err, ahead … to October 11, 2026. It’s time for BB Comic Con, which means the comp is the iconic BB Comics. The competitors have to fly down the zip line and look through a window to see the order of the BB Comics for each houseguest. They then have to match the correct order, while also ensuring they don’t mistakenly choose a bootleg variant cover. For those interested, here are the covers.

It quickly becomes clear that Angela isn’t winning this competition. But at the end of the day, she’s still proud of herself for not timing out. Taylor, meanwhile, has a deliberate strategy — she wants to lay out all the comics and spot the differences before taking a swing on the zipline and putting together the order. Despite this strategy, she doesn’t get it right on the first try, even messing up on her own comic. It takes a few more tries, but she finally gets it right.

Devens is up next, and he has a bad feeling that if he or Dee don’t win the Power of Veto, one of the Icons is definitely going home. He thinks that by repeating the first letter of each comic he has a better shot of remembering them. Despite this strategy, he still gets the order wrong a few times before finally getting it right. Barrett is up next and is determined to keep all the Icons on the block. He wants to focus on a couple of comics at a time, determine the order and then figure out the differences. Unfortunately, he’s distracted by the aura of the Pipe Queen herself, Mallory and by the thought that he’s the only one who looks evil in their comic. Thus, the struggle is real and it looks like the tall man has come up short.

Yash wants to add to his résumé while keeping the Icons on the block and guaranteeing his safety. He’s focused on getting the order right and then looking for differences, but makes a mistake on his first try on Ashley’s comic. That said, it’s just one mistake and he appears to be flying high. Dee is the last competitor to play and is feeling the heat. She thinks she’s got the order locked down, but has to spot the differences. She loves her comic … but more importantly probably loved getting the setup right on the first try.

When all was said and done, despite making that one mistake, Yash still had the fastest time (13:46) and won another Power of Veto, beating out Devens (14:12) and Dee (17:09). It’s another line on his résumé—and potentially a dagger through the Icons’ hopes of coming off the block before Thursday.

Devens throws a Hail Mary as the newbies call a ceasefire

Yash immediately confirms that he’s keeping nominations the same — a fact that Dee already knows. Devens, meanwhile, wants to find a creative way to stay in the house.

Drew is in his feelings, pissed that Yash won the Power of Veto and guaranteed his safety. Drew tells Devens he’s got his vote, but Devens isn’t going to take this lying down. So Devens decides to throw a Hail Mary and attempt to get Yash to use the Power of Veto on him.

Melody and Barrett think there is no way that Yash is using the veto, which might make Drew disappointed. Barrett suggests getting all the newbies together to try and form a ceasefire to target the Icons until all three are gone. Yash and Taylor are down, and Melody thinks this is her ideal Final 5. Drew, however, thinks this ceasefire isn’t going to last, especially since Yash can’t nominate the Icons and wants to target him. And Drew’s absolutely right about that, as Yash confirms he does not respect Drew’s game and is coming for him the first chance he gets. But for now, all the newbies at least make it seem like they’re cool with the ceasefire.

Devens tries to sow some seeds of doubt in Yash’s mind about Barrett, suggesting that Yash can’t trust the Barrett-Drew-Melody trio. Devens knows it would be hard for Yash to trust him, but he’s down to work together. And he would argue that Yash would have a better chance sitting next to Devens at the end. His spidey senses tell him that the pitch didn’t land, but Devens is still going to do Devens things and bring the entertainment to the Veto ceremony.

For her part, Dee would love for Yash to use the Power of Veto on her. But short of that, she’s going to make sure that Barrett understands that putting her on the block was the biggest mistake he could have made.

No go on the Veto

At the Veto meeting, Yash gave the Icons a chance to plead their case. Angela uses her time to congratulate Yash … and threaten Barrett. Dee takes a similar tack, complimenting Yash while getting up in Barrett’s space and intimidating him as she makes her threat. Devens tries to play up Barrett’s sins, and reminds him of where Yash stands with Barrett. He also promises that he’s going to target Barrett and his allies if he stays.

None of it is enough, however, and Yash sticks with his plan and doesn’t use the Power of Veto. He wants to see the plan to get an Icon out through and not using the Power of Veto gurantees that. The Hail Mary didn’t work, but Devens feels like he still found some silver lining in that he got Barrett to admit he would have used Taylor as a renom. Angela says she won the BB Blockbuster once, and she’ll do it again. And Dee actually feels like if she stays, a weight has been lifted off her shoulders. If you think she was ruthless before, you haven’t seen anything yet. She says the game is just starting.

The time for talk is almost done. And the time for one of the Icons to be sent to jury is almost here. We’ll find out which one will join LaLa as the second juror of Big Brother Season 28 on Thursday.
