LaLa became the oldest Wall comp winner in Big Brother history on Sunday, outlasting an MMA fighter at age 58 to break the Toolshed’s four-week grip on power.

Now Haley and Chuk are on the block, Barrett is the pawn, and the Power of Veto could determine whether Haley’s disastrous HOH week turns into a one-way ticket home.

What happened last time on Big Brother Season 28?

Thursday’s blindside — engineered by Dee to save Drew and Melody while sending Lyric home — sent shockwaves through the house. The Red Corner imploded almost immediately, with Chuk and Haley blaming Kamu for the flip despite Kamu voting their way. Kamu declared the Toolshed dead and told Melody and Mallory he’d nominate Chuk if he won HOH.

Then came the Wall comp. LaLa outlasted everyone, including Kamu, to become the new Head of Household — ending the Toolshed’s stranglehold on power for the first time this season.

Mallory was voted into the BB Time Capsule by America but landed a punishment instead of a power: 48 hours attached to Melody as Adam and Eve (or Eve and Eve, in this case).

LaLa initially considered a wider range of targets including Devens, Drew and Kamu. After conversations with Taylor and Kamu — who pitched that Chuk had talked about putting LaLa on the block — she settled on nominating Haley (her real target) and Chuk from the Red Corner, with Barrett as her pawn.

What to expect on Big Brother tonight

The Power of Veto competition

Haley’s only path to guaranteed safety is winning the veto herself. After spending Week 4 telling nominees to “good luck” their way off the block, she’s now the one who needs the luck. Chuk is in the same boat — the Red Corner is fractured, their former allies aren’t lifting a finger, and neither has the social capital to convince someone else to use the veto on them.

Barrett is the stated pawn, but he knows pawns go home in this game (which is why he fought so hard when Haley talked about putting him up in a similar spot just last week). Still, Barrett should feel relatively safe unless one of the other nominees wins and pulls themselves off. If Haley or Chuk wins the veto and comes off, LaLa has to name a replacement — and the pool of options gets interesting given how many alliances have reshuffled since Thursday.

Haley on the other side of the block

Four weeks of complaining about how hard she’s had it without ever facing the block. A week of advanced HOHitis, arrogance and interrogating people for not following her orders. And now Haley is sitting on the block as someone’s primary target for the first time, nominated by a woman she’s been dismissive of all season.

The poetic justice writes itself. Haley’s HOH week was a complete disaster — her target (Melody) survived, her pawn-turned-target (Drew) survived, she was blindsided on her own watch, and her meme-worthy reaction at the vote became instant Big Brother lore. Now she’s staring down eviction with a fractured alliance, no HOH power to hide behind and a house full of people she alienated while she was on top.

The Toolshed is dead — what does that mean for the house?

The updated alliance map tells the story. Both the Toolshed and the Red Corner are struck through, officially dead. In their place, a new web of alliances has formed:

The Crossovers (Dee, Devens, Angela, Barrett, Drew) remain intact — the Icons plus their two closest numbers. The Wolfpack (Dee, Devens, Kamu, Yash) is even more interesting given Kamu’s pivot away from Haley and Chuk. The Tethers (Taylor, Kamu, Devens) connect the Icon side with the minority side through shared relationships at a time where Taylor’s top ally, LaLa, is in power. And Drew, Melody, Mallory and Barrett have solidified their own bloc on the other side.

The question is whether these structures hold under pressure, or whether the veto competition reshuffles things again. Kamu selling out Chuk to LaLa — telling her that Chuk talked about nominating her — was a decisive break. If Chuk finds out, whatever remains of that relationship is finished.

Convincing LaLa to put up Chuk instead of himself was a significant play for Kamu — he sacrificed a former ally to keep himself off the block. He’s declared himself a free agent, and is moving like one in the house right now. This week’s veto could determine whether Kamu’s gamble pays off or blows up in his face.
