MLB Odds & Storylines

The day kicks off at 1:08 p.m. ET with the Tigers returning to Cleveland, where Detroit lost two of three to help cement their collapse in the AL Central. But, with their Cy Young Award winner Skubal on the mound, Detroit enters as a -169 Moneyline favorite on DraftKings Sportsbook. Guardian bats are 37-for-181 (.204) vs Skubal and that factors into one of Steve Buchanan’s best Tigers vs Guardians same game parlay picks for MLB Wild Card Game 1, as one of his SGPs includes Skubal notching 8+ Ks.

Next up, the Padres travel to Wrigley Field to take on the Cubs at 3:08 p.m. ET. Chicago enters as a -115 Moneyline favorite on DraftKings Sportsbook. Although the run total is set at just seven, both teams have hit the others’ starters hard — Cubs bats are 32-for-106 (.302) vs Pivetta, while Padres bats are 19-for-68 (.279) vs Boyd. That doesn’t seem to faze Charlie Cummings, who in his best props article for this game, as he likes Pivetta to get 5+ Ks (-145) and Boyd to record over 14.5 outs.

The Red Sox and Yankees renew their October rivalry in the Bronx at 6:08 p.m. ET, and the Yankees enter as a -137 Moneyline favorite on DraftKings Sportsbook. Yankees bats are a career 24-for-108 (.222) vs Crochet, while Sox bats fare only slightly better against Fried to the tune of  22-for-86 (.256). Therefore, it probably comes as little shock that in his best props article for this game, Garion Thorne is eying Crochet at 8+ strikeouts (-119) and Fried at under 1.5 runs allowed (+106).

The night closes out west, as the Reds travel to Hollywood to take on the Dodgers at 9:08 p.m. ET. The Dodgers enter as -206 Moneyline favorites on DraftKings Sportsbook, which should be no shock as Dodgers bats are 27-for-98 (.276) vs Greene while Reds bats are 5-for-48 (.104) with 0 HR vs. Snell. In his top home run props article, Zach Thompson is eying Max Muncy to hit 1+ home run (+372). He notes that Muncy is 3-for-5 with a homer vs. Greene in their past meetings, and has hit 16 of his 19 homers off righties like Greene. Of those 19 homers, 15 also came at Dodger Stadium, where he has a .405 wOBA.
