The motto of Big Brother is “expect the unexpected.” Well, I think Yash going from the penthouse to the outhouse in the span of hours on Thursday certainly qualifies. As does Melody suddenly turning into a comp beast in just the nick of time.
Barrett and Yash are out of the Big Brother house and off to jury, but what would it mean for the remaining houseguests as we get closer and closer to the endgame? Well, sure enough without Yash there to carry the flag for the newbies an Icon won HOH. That’s right, Devens did it again and as has been the case all season, the Survivors survive and the newbies flounder.

Big Brother Season 28 Week 11 Results
Sunday’s episode began Week 11 with Devens winning tiny HOH to become the new Head of Household.
In addition, Big Brother 27 runner-up Vinny Panaro returned to the house and brought with him great treasure … and the Pharaoh’s Curse. How will the curse and the sped-up week affect the game? And who will make it to the Final 4? We’ll all find out together as the week progresses.

Big Brother Season 28 Episode 37 recap
Double eviction drama
After getting new behind-the-scenes footage from Thursday’s double eviction, specifically the vote which sent Yash home, we heard some of what everyone was thinking.
Dee can’t believe she’s still in the house. Or more specifically, that the other houseguests have allowed her and Devens to continually survive. For her part, Melody wanted Devens out for a variety of reasons, and she gets a guarantee from Drew that he would vote out an Icon next to Yash. But … that was before the veto and Drew admits in the diary room that he’ll say whatever he has to say and then re-examine later.
Of course, Devens winning the veto changes the calculus, forcing Drew back into the middle, with Dee and Devens pitching that Yash going home is better for his game. Like Drew, Dee is willing to say whatever it takes to stay, even if it means making up a fake Final 3. Yash tried to argue that maybe making Taylor the replacement nominee would be the safer move (which Drew confirmed, as he said he would have voted out Dee in that scenario), but I think Taylor made a strategic mistake in pushing Melody to nominate Drew, which she would never do. And it doesn’t hurt that Yash going home isn’t the worst thing for Melody’s game.
In the end, we all know Yash went up and went out of the house. Dee successfully pitched her case to stay, alluding to Drew’s closeness to Devens as a problem, and Drew admitted that he thinks he has a better chance to beat Dee in a comp than Yash. And somehow, after everything, Drew is still Crossover strong. After all, he has a history with the Icons and not much relationship with Yash and Taylor. And technically, he says he held up his end of their Pressure Cooker deal — he voted to keep Taylor and didn’t target Yash as HOH. But, he says Yash had to read the fine print.
Of course, the night isn’t even over before Dee starts targeting Drew again. She says he’s the next best competitor and she hasn’t forgiven or forgotten that Drew voted to evict her. Devens doesn’t necessarily agree, however, as he thinks keeping Drew is actually best for his game as Drew is the player most likely to take him to the end.
You. Are. CURSED!
There wasn’t much time to relax after the craziness of the double eviction, however, as unbeknownst to the houseguests, BB 27 runner-up Vinny Panaro returned to the house and “borrowed” the dining table time machine to take a lucrative trip to Egypt in 1922. While there, he stole the treasure from the then-recently-discovered Pharaoh’s Tomb. And he’s willing to share it with all the houseguests. With a catch, of course.
Each houseguest was sent to a room with a button. If no one hits the button, each houseguest gets $1,000. However, if someone does hit the button and they do it first, they get $10K and everyone else gets nothing. Of course, several of the houseguests figure that production isn’t going to give away free money, so there must be some consequence to hitting the button.
Unfortunately for all the houseguests, kids are expensive, so Devens hits the button to grab the cash to bring home to his wife after a long summer of being on solo duty. And as expected, this wasn’t free money. As a result of Devens hitting the button, the Pharaoh’s Curse has been activated … aka someone is getting sent home in an extra “Egyptian” eviction. The only way to be safe is through winning Head of Household or the Power of Veto.
Things didn’t go as planned for Vinny, who immediately heads for the exit. As Drew says, what a weasel. It takes one to know one.
Stack like an Egyptian
After being cursed, the houseguests are sent to Egypt in 1922 for the Head of Household competition. And it’s a Tiny HOH comp. Not only did Vinny get the houseguests cursed, but when he stole the treasure he knocked down the Pharaoh’s mini sarcophagi. Now the houseguests must rebuild the mini tapestry EXACTLY using the “Pyramid Pinchers,” with the first person to do so earning HOH and safety from the Pharaoh’s Curse.
One would think Drew, as a dental surgical assistant, would have a leg up. But no, he struggles just as much as everyone else. As Devens knows, all the houseguests are exhausted, but he actually is doing quite well. He is down to one final piece at about the 50-minute mark before his stack goes tumbling down. So the game rolled on. And on. And on. And on. In the end, Devens still won, but instead of winning in about 50 minutes, he did so in just over FOUR HOURS.

So it was a long night, but a productive one for Devens. He adds another line to his resume and earns himself safety and the tiny HOH key.
What’s the game plan?
After the Tiny HOH, Taylor suggested that the best plan for Devens would be to target the showmance duo of Drew and Melody. It turns out, Devens is down to target Melody. After all, she just put him up in the double eviction. But nominating Drew? That takes a little more convincing.
Devens confers with Dee, and really does not want to send Drew to jury, as he can’t play HOH next week and wants to surround himself with fellow targets who can win comps. He is worried that Drew is more likely to take Melody to the end, and if they want to target Melody it seems like they need to put Drew up as well to ensure he doesn’t use the veto on Melody. Dee is in lock step with that line of thinking. Devens really doesn’t want to put Drew up, but Dee is his No. 1 and he thinks that he knows if push came to shove, Drew is going to side with his flirtmance over his “dad.” So despite his loyalty, it’s looking like Drew is going to have to go up.

Of course, Drew is not thrilled with this plan. He says he’s willing to throw the Veto comp and reminds the Icons that he literally JUST voted to save Dee. Of course, they’re right, as he says in the diary room he would absolutely use the veto on Melody. But he is angry and wants to know how many times does he have to be nominated by his own allies? When is enough enough?
Drew tells Devens he is afraid that the Survivor alum is just going to do what Dee wants and he’ll be in danger. Drew point blank asks Devens if he trusts Taylor more than he trusts him, and Devens tries to deflect a little by saying he trusts Taylor’s motivations more. It’s the Melody of it all that gives Devens pause. Drew continues to pitch, with some solid logic, but it’s left uncertain what Devens is going to do, as he acknowledges the balancing act he’s having to do between Drew and Dee.
We’ll have to wait and see who Devens prioritizes when he makes his nominations on Wednesday.

As head of household, Devens has yet to officially name his nominees. However, after talking with Dee, he was leaning toward nominating Drew and Melody for eviction this week. We’ll see who he nominates on Wednesday’s episode at 10 p.m. ET following the season premiere of Survivor.
