Sunday’s episode ended on a cliffhanger, and it left us set up for what should be a jam-packed, two-hour Wednesday episode that will have a lot of work to do ahead of Thursday’s BB Blockbuster and live eviction.

Barrett has one Stone of Safety and two Stones of Sacrifice, and the decision he makes with them could reshape the entire season. Barrett won the third medieval contest on Sunday’s episode, saved Melody, and now must choose which two of Taylor, LaLa and Yash he sends into the final contest against an exhausted Haley.

The Icons want him to sacrifice Taylor and LaLa. Yash is volunteering to go in himself in a bid to send Haley home. Barrett spent all of last week turning Bar-rat against the Crossovers, and Wednesday night we find out if that defection was real.

What happened last time on Big Brother Season 28?

The medieval twist arrived and immediately stripped the Icons of their structural advantage. No HOH, no veto, no Blockbuster — just four contests where winners earned safety and distributed Stones of Safety and Sacrifice to determine who would face elimination.

Dee won the first contest (a candelabra build) and gave safety to Devens. She sent Drew and Haley into the second contest, choosing Haley over Barrett — a decision that made Barrett feel like he was being replaced in the Crossovers. Drew beat Haley in a crop-sorting puzzle, then gave his Stone of Safety to Angela instead of Melody at the Icons’ insistence. Once again, Drew chose the Icons over the person he calls his best friend in the house. Melody said she wasn’t even shocked anymore.

Barrett defeated a gassed Haley in the third contest, a balance-beam grape challenge. He immediately saved Melody, his easiest decision of the night. That leaves one Stone of Safety and two Stones of Sacrifice for Taylor, LaLa and Yash — and the episode cut to black before Barrett made his choice.

Haley is still in the year 1000, waiting for two opponents. Three houseguests will compete in a final contest, and the winner earns the sole power to eliminate one of the other two.

What to expect on Big Brother tonight

Barrett’s decision

Barrett has one Stone of Safety and two Stones of Sacrifice, meaning he saves one of Taylor, LaLa or Yash and sends the other two to face Haley in the final contest. The winner of that contest eliminates one of the losers.

The Crossovers want Barrett to choose Taylor and LaLa — the two weakest remaining competitors, in their view — so that Haley has the best chance of beating both and surviving. The Icons have been looking to work with Haley, and Dee’s strategy since the twist began has been to engineer the easiest possible path for Haley to stay in the game.

Yash sees it differently. He volunteered to go into the final contest with LaLa and face Haley himself, believing he gives his side the best shot at eliminating her. If Barrett sends Yash and LaLa (or Yash and Taylor), the Icons could potentially lose their shield and the anti-Icon side gets a real chance to take out someone the Crossovers think is a number for their side.

Barrett broke from the Icons for the first time last week when he tried to save Mallory. But that was a vote flip that failed because Drew undercut it. This decision has no safety net — Barrett can’t be overruled. Whatever he chooses sticks. The question is whether his defection from the Icons was a one-time emotional reaction to Mallory’s nomination or the start of an actual independent game.

Drew keeps choosing wrong

Drew won the second contest and immediately faced the same fork he’s hit every week this season: honor the Crossovers or protect Melody. He chose the Icons. Again. Melody’s reaction was resignation, not anger — she said she wished she could say she was shocked, but she wasn’t.

Drew is now safe in the twist, but his relationship with Melody is on shaky ground. He told the diary room that he considers Melody his best friend in the house and that he knows saving her would have rebuilt trust between them. His brain told him to honor his deal with the Icons. At a certain point, doing the strategically “safe” thing stops being safe when it costs you every relationship outside your alliance — and Drew’s alliance views him as expendable anyway.

Haley’s survival odds

Haley lost to Barrett in the third contest and is waiting in the year 1000, exhausted, for two more opponents.

If Barrett follows the Icons’ plan and chooses Taylor and LaLa, Haley’s chances improve dramatically — she’d face two competitors the Icons believe she can beat, with a gassed but still-fighting Haley potentially outlasting them. If Barrett sends Yash, Haley could be in serious trouble. Yash has been one of the stronger competitors this season and has every reason to want Haley gone — she’s been tight with the Icons, and removing her weakens Dee and Angela.

Haley has been a strange player all season. She floats between sides, loyal only to the Icons by default, and has occasionally shown flashes of wanting to play her own game (she considered messing with Dee’s HOH the same way Dee and Devens hijacked hers). But she’s never actually pulled the trigger on an independent move. If she survives Wednesday, it will be because the Icons’ influence extends even to a player who just broke from them.

The elimination format

The final contest pits three houseguests against each other. The winner doesn’t just survive — they gain the sole power to eliminate one of the other two. That’s an enormous amount of agency for a single competition. In a normal week, the house votes and the majority rules. Here, one person decides.

This means the final contest isn’t just about winning — it’s about who wins. If Yash wins, he almost certainly sends Haley home. If Haley wins, she likely targets whoever she perceives as the biggest threat among her opponents. The outcome of one competition could fundamentally shift the power balance in a house that’s been Icon-dominated since Week 1.

What’s next

If you watch the Live Feeds, then you know that we still need to get to an HOH competition, the return of Zingbot, nominations, a Veto comp and a Veto ceremony. All likely in this two-hour Wednesday episode. That’s a lot to get in!

It remains to be seen how quickly they’ll have to move or how they’ll functionally get two episodes worth of material into one. But we know time is of the essence, as Thursday will feature another BB Blockbuster and live eviction vote. And whoever is voted out on Thursday will become the first member of the Big Brother Season 28 jury. So there’s plenty of drama still to come that we haven’t even seen yet on our TVs.
