Who Was Evicted on Big Brother Tonight? Week 2 Results

After a week spent plotting Rome’s downfall, eviction night has finally arrived. The Toolshed alliance believes it has everything lined up for a successful backdoor, but one BB Blockbuster competition could blow up the entire plan.

Can Rome follow through on his promise to unleash the “real” Rome out and take himself off the block by winning the BB Blockbuster? And if he does, will secondary target Jason be the one sent packing? Or will the vote flip and see Melody sent home?

Big Brother Season 28 Week 2 Results

Sunday’s episode began Week 2 of the summer-long competition, as a new Head of Household was crowned. The Crossovers dominated Week 1, and it looks like they’re only going to get more powerful, with yet another member of that alliance in the HOH room this week. That’s right, Rick Devens won the HOH competition, keeping the combined alliance of the Crossovers and the Red Corner — now known together as the Toolshed — firmly at the top of the game.

That was then followed up by Devens winning the Power of Veto as well. With his head spinning, Devens used the veto on Lyric and backdoored Rome, following through on the plan he’d been discussing all week. Devens said the veto choice of Lyric over Melody came down to the fact he felt he could trust Lyric more.

The move gave the alliance the matchup it wanted, but whether Rome could save himself one more time would be decided live on Thursday.

Lyric hit the right note to save Rome?

It was a bittersweet moment for Lyric, coming off the block while her beau Rome went up. Ahead of the BB Blockbuster, Lyric and Rome are preparing for what lies ahead. She thanks him for protecting her, and they re-affirm they want to be together on the outside. But Lyric wants to delay that as long as possible.

Yash admits to Lyric if it were just up to him he would vote to keep Rome, as he thinks he’s a number for him. LaLa loves Rome, but admits she has to think about the road ahead. Taylor, however, would be open to keeping Rome over Melody as long as he’s in the house people aren’t looking hard at her.

By her count, Lyric believes she has six votes that can go their way, but at this point she’s resigned to hoping Rome can win the Blockbuster.

Trouble in the Toolshed

Angela continues to be paranoid about Drew. She thinks she sees right through him, but the egg is really on her face as Drew has been really operating solely for them. Dee, meanwhile, wants to put Drew in a position where he has to vote against Melody or they have the numbers to eject Melody from the game. Angela thinks Drew is running the house, but rather than see it as an advantage for her game she sees it as a threat.

While talking with Mallory, Barrett expresses that he’s not thrilled he was at the bottom of the totem pole and didn’t like that he was the last person called up for the HOH room meeting. He says in the diary room that not sure how much longer he can keep up with that alliance. Mallory, sensing Barrett, makes her pitch to bring Barrett over to their side, as she also would like to keep Rome in the house because she thinks Rome would be unafraid to take a shot at the icons.

Drew also seems unhappy with his place on the Toolshed totem pole, and suggests he and Barrett form a final two. He also suggests they look to get rid of Kamu, Haley and Chuk. So perhaps the foundation of the Toolshed isn’t as sturdy as it originally appeared. So while Barrett says it’s a scary thought for Rome to stay and control the house next week, he’s not against the idea of throwing Rome votes out there for the fun of it.

The biggest shock of all is Drew WANTS Rome to win the Blockbuster, WANTS Rome to win HOH next week and WANTS Rome to then nuke the Toolshed, Drew’s own alliance! No lies detected when Drew says he loves chaos. What looked like a one-way ticket out of the Big Brother house for Rome is suddenly looking less and less of a sure thing.

Jason busts the block

Up next is the BB Blockbuster. The nominees are going to have to solve a stacking challenge, dubbed “Pirate’s Booty,” in the BB Blockbuster Arena, which Julie outlined earlier on Thursday.

Jason was anything but messy in the Blockbuster, solving the challenge first and taking himself off the block immediately. This sets up an interesting showdown in the live eviction vote, with multiple houseguests on both sides expressing an openness to keep Rome, especially against Melody.

This looked like it could be just about the worst-case scenario for Devens short of Rome winning the Blockbuster himself, as his big move to take a seemingly sure-shot at Rome could be about to blow up in his face. Keeping Melody on the block over Lyric is looking worse and worse by the moment.

Rome gets burned

With Jason off the block, how will a potentially suspenseful vote go? Yeah, about that …

Despite Rome expressing once again that he has more to give the house — be it as a shield, a friend, garbageman, whatever — he falls FAR short of making it a close vote. In fact, by a vote of 12-1, the second houseguest evicted in Big Brother Season 28 is ROME.

For the second week in a row, no one wants to go against the majority. Even Lyric couldn’t bring herself to save Rome, sadly voting to evict her showmantic partner. Chalk it up as a fake out in the edit to make us think Rome had a chance in this vote tonight.

At the end of the day, Taylor would be the only vote to save Rome. The writing was on the wall when Jason (who seemed like a likely potential vote for Rome to stay) and Yash (who also expressed a willingness to keep Rome in the house) voted to send the pickleball coach packing. Then the most likely person on the opposite side of the house to flip — Dee — eschewed a chance to send a message to Drew and stuck with the plan to evict Rome.

But in the end, maybe Rome is a real winner this season, as he couldn’t leave the house without declaring his love for Lyric. Maybe she was right when she said on Wednesday that love always wins.

Still a Rome-antic at heart

Rome tells Julie he feels good, as he is taking it a compliment that a legend like Devens thought his game was so strong that he needed to get him out of the house. Of course, as a competitor, it hurt Rome to lose the Blockbuster, but seeing the look of relief on Jason’s face made him feel relief too.

Getting back to Devens, Rome says he was hurt that Devens used their conversation against him. But in the end, Devens didn’t lie so he’s got no hard feelings. He also seemed to have no hard feelings, but was shocked to learn that neither Lyric or Jason voted to keep him in the house, but noted that Taylor was always loyal to him.

When it comes to the showmance, Lyric derailed his game when she batted her eyes twice and turned him into a puddle. He is a Rome-mantic, after all. And yes, “Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love For You” will be their wedding song.
