Sunday’s episode of Big Brother Season 28 kicked off Week 2 with a bang, setting up intense drama in the house following Rick Devens’ HOH win. But, the live feeds are already revealing that Rome might be a dead houseguest walking.
Everyone spent the day scrambling to establish their place in the house, with the Rome side of the house fighting to stay in the game or protect their allies, while the Toolshed/Crossovers alliance debated who should come off the block so Rome could be backdoored.
Oh, and Rome and Lyric spent the day selling a breakup (real or fake?) before ending the night making out and holding hands under the covers in the havenots room.

Big Brother Season 28 Week 2 Results
Sunday’s episode began Week 2 of the summer-long competition, as a new Head of Household was crowned. The Crossovers dominated Week 1, and it looks like they’re only going to get more powerful, with yet another member of that alliance in the HOH room this week. That’s right, Rick Devens won the HOH competition, keeping the combined alliance of the Crossovers and the Red Corner — now known together as the Toolshed — firmly at the top of the game.

Fall of Rome
As you saw in Sunday’s episode (read my recap here), Week 2 got off to an egg-splosive start (sorry, I can’t help myself with the egg puns). If you’ve been watching the live feeds, you knew that was coming, as much of the drama occured late Friday night into Saturday.
As a result, Sunday was a bit more of a chill day (at least there were fewer crying jags). For those who didn’t know, Devens has already won the veto competition. So he really has all the power at the moment, which is good because the man turned down the opportunity to be in a Superman movie to be in the Big Brother house this summer!

Getting back to the game at hand, with Devens in complete control, if I were Rome I’d be very nervous right now. It is almost a certainty that someone will be coming down off the block and Rome will be going up. The question will be who comes off — Melody or Lyric?
Melody pitched Devens hard on taking her off the block, even making a MAJOR promise to sweeten the pot.

Despite having Drew sort of in her corner (despite his alliance with Melody, Drew confirms he is most loyal to the Crossovers, no matter what), signs seem to be pointing toward Devens taking Lyric off the block.
Devens has officially decided to use the Veto on Lyric. Angela and Dee convinced him that saving Lyric strengthens his own game, while keeping Melody on the block would mostly benefit other people. They also continue to grow more suspicious of Drew, but Angela wants to keep…

Not only are Devens’ two biggest allies pushing him in that direction, but he believes saving Lyric could be seen as an olive branch to Rome should Rome somehow survive this week’s destruction of his Roman Empire.
Love me or Love me not?
Speaking of Lyric and Rome, what a day of ups and downs for this duo, who as a reminder began their showmance on Day 2 in the house and before all the drama of Friday had just declared that they love each other (reminder, they’ve known each other about two weeks at this point).
Rome, who once asked Lyric if it was egotistical to call himself the president of the house, now sees his game as so toxic to her that he’s told her they have to stage a fake breakup to help protect her. To that end, he is spreading throughout the house that they’re done, with Lyric doing the same.
Lyric also leans into this in her conversation with Devens, noting that her connection with Rome has put her game in danger.

To that end, Lyric is spending more time again with Chuk and Yash, which she began doing after all the drama of Friday night. But by the end of the night, Rome and Lyric are back to making out and telling each other that they love each other. I think if they truly like each other, they should make the most of their time because it feels like we could see the fall of Rome on Thursday, no matter if he thinks he’s going to find a way to save his game.

Given the way other people in the house are talking, Rome better hope he wins the BB Blockbuster. Because, otherwise, he’ll be meeting Julie on Thursday.

Devens is in a great place in the game, but could cracks be showing with his alliance? Or are Dee and Angela just working through how to get Devens to stick to the Toolshed playbook.

Other issues in the Toolshed/Crossover alliance could be brewing as well, specifically around Drew. The surgical dental assistant has been a key cog in this alliance, using his connections around the house to feel his allies useful information. Unfortunately, some missteps made during Week 1 sparked some distrust in Drew from Angela and Dee and it looks like that has not been resolved to this point in Week 2.

Who won HOH this week?
DEVENS won HOH on Sunday, making it two weeks in a row that a member of the Crossovers/Toolshed alliance took control of the house.
Who was nominated for eviction this week?
As head of household, Devens nominated JASON, MELODY and LYRIC for eviction this week. If any of the three win the veto competition, or another player wins and choose to use the power of veto on them, Devens will have to select another houseguest as a replacement nominee.
