Monday was a big day in the Big Brother house, as Devens officially pulled the trigger on his plan to backdoor Rome. But did he make a mistake in execution that could unravel the whole plan? Did he pull the right person off the block?
Plus, we saw a little bit of love in the air in the house, with some houseguests getting a little more friendly.

Big Brother Season 28 Week 2 Results
Sunday’s episode began Week 2 of the summer-long competition, as a new Head of Household was crowned. The Crossovers dominated Week 1, and it looks like they’re only going to get more powerful, with yet another member of that alliance in the HOH room this week. That’s right, Rick Devens won the HOH competition, keeping the combined alliance of the Crossovers and the Red Corner — now known together as the Toolshed — firmly at the top of the game.

Power or problem?
The big news of the day was the veto ceremony. As I discussed in yesterday’s live feed recap, Devens, as expected, used the Power of Veto to remove one of his initial nominees and backdoor Rome. There was debate in the days leading up to the veto ceremony who he would take off the block, Melody or Lyric. Despite it making less sense for his plan to backdoor Rome and potentially hurting his alliance with Drew, Devens elected to follow the wishes of Dee and Angela and take LYRIC off the block.

This feels like a mistake, but we’ll see, if like last week, a Survivor legend can survive a less than pristine bit of gameplay to still get the desired result, which remains taking out Rome.
Rome seems to think he could have a shot of turning things around and saving his game this week, but he gets a bit of a reality check with other houseguests thinking Melody is safe against whomever she could potentially sit next to on the block.

Is Taylor the most plugged in? Probably not, but I would assume that she’s probably right here in that Rome and Jason are more likely to go home. But you never know until the vote goes down, especially with some in the house not necessarily hating the idea of Melody going home.
As the showmance turns
Speaking of Rome, now that Lyric is off the block it seems like they have backed off their fake breakup. It seems like Rome’s plan to make a deal with Devens to save Lyric has worked for the moment, which is kind of crazy because why make a deal with someone you’re hoping to send home this week anyways? But I digress.
Lyric and Rome are back to love bombing, with Lyric promising she won’t let Rome go home this week and Rome promising he is going to win the BB Blockbuster. Oh and they’re talking about life outside the house again before making out in a bed with two other people in it.

They’re not the only houseguests getting a little more friendly, however, Kamu and Haley have been tied at the hip all season as part of the Red Corner alliance, which is good because it seems like no one else in the house really cares much for Haley beyond her Red Corner allies. Kamu admits he would take Haley to the final 2, which she says she knows because he tells her she’s pretty. This is further confirmed when the duo actually kiss. Now, it appears fellow Toolshed members Dee and Angela are here for this pairing, but perhaps they have an ulterior motive.

And finally, has Barrett moved on from Dee, who said on Monday that she sees him more as a friend, to perhaps her greatest threat in the game, Mallory? The live feeds report, you decide.

Around the house roundup
In addition to wanting Melody out of the house, Angela is getting more and more paranoid about Drew, who has done nothing but bring her useful information for her game. I guess his biggest mistake is telling her things she doesn’t want to hear … even if it is good for her. The bottom line is Drew better sleep with one eye open if Angela wins HOH.

It appears that Jason’s efforts to keep his Drag Race past from the rest of the houseguests has been a success. Drew might be full of information in the house, but this conversation with Dee proves he’s not fully in the know.

Finally, after losing the BB Time Capsule, Angela has suffered through a punishment this week in the form of the Hard-Boiled Detective egg costume. Of course, the first person to wear that costume was Vinny from Big Brother Season 27, and we were all wondering how he felt about seeing someone else in his costume. Well, wait no longer, as Vinny has made his feelings known.
