Tonight’s the night — we’ll get our first houseguest evicted of Big Brother Season 28!
After Mallory won Power of Veto and took herself off the block, Yash, Taylor and Ashley entered Thursday night facing eviction. However, the BB Blockbuster would give one of the houseguests the opportunity to save their game (at least for now).
Who would take themselves off the block and who would become the first houseguest sent home in Season 28? Read more below to find out who was evicted by unanimous vote.

Big Brother Season 28 Episode 5 recap
Campaign season
After host Julie Chen Moonves laid out the state of play before a live studio audience, we see that despite nominating someone in Ashley who will cause the least blowback to her game, Dee still views Yash as her main target. The financial analyst is confident he can win the BB Blockbuster, while Ashley knows she has some work to do in the house.
Dee is becoming worried that the Red Corner could see Yash as a potential human shield, making them prefer to keep him over Taylor. For her part, Taylor is feeling confident in her connections in the house, thinking she can take down either Yash or Ashley in a vote. Meanwhile, Melody and Lyric are sensing a divide in the house and want to build numbers to ensure their safety, which could include Yash and Taylor if they can get Ashley out. Melody summarizes it well, calling Ashley a question mark. From everything I’ve seen, Ashley is likely a question mark for everyone, as she has yet to make mark in the game or show what her game truly is.
Yash has a bro out session with Kamu and Chuk, who are afraid to see one of their guys sent home. Kamu reaffirms Dee’s fears, admitting he sees Yash as a potential shield. But he is leaning toward keeping Yash, who promises to ride with Kamu and Chuk.
Angela has done well to suppress her paranoia and instinct to see threats around every corner. But when she sees Rome lead a group to the gym, Angela’s antenna goes up. And she IS right that Rome is putting together a group — Mama’s Angels with LaTrice and Jason. He says it’s the exact group he wanted, but LaTrice and Jason are looking to potentially send Yash home, which is not what Rome really wants. So now he’s eying Ashley as the target for who he wants to go home.
Loose lips sink ships
Getting back to Angela, she is upset that people think they are able to play her. She sees a Roman Empire growing, and immediately sets out to stir the pot and nip it in the bud.
She pulls Kamu for a chat, which seems to work with him saying he trusts Angela and going to Dee with his concerns about this big gym meet up. With Dee, Kamu is thinking that maybe he was wrong in thinking it’s better to keep Yash. This gives Dee the opening to push keeping Ashley as potential number for the Red Corner and Crossovers.
Ashley meets with Dee, Drew and Angela and they plan to whip the vote for Ashley. Haley is on board with this plan after getting word from the Red Corner, which sends Ashley off with the plan to tell everyone that she has the votes to stay in the house. Which immediately bites her in the behind, as it sets off alarms with Melody learning that sides are developing in the house. Melody immediately comes to Drew and Barrett with these concerns, alerting them their plan has been leaked and now they may have to reconsider the plan to keep Ashley. If they vote to keep Ashley, now it risks exposing all their cards. All because Ashley made a Big Brother rookie mistake and said a little too much too soon.
A hair-raising BB Blockbuster
After all the drama in the lead up to Thursday’s live episode, it came time for the BB Blockbuster, where the nominees would get one last shot to take themselves off the block. The competition, “Do Over,” challenged nominees to identify which houseguest appeared most frequently on rotating screens. Whoever answered correctly the fastest took themselves off the block. Julie previewed “Do Over” earlier in the day before the live episode began.

Yash is the first to lock in an answer, picking Mallory, followed by Taylor and Ashley, who picked Devens. It turns out Mallory was the correct answer, and Yash has pulled himself off the block. That leaves Taylor and Ashley on the block and up for eviction.
Majority rules
Ashley and Taylor each get one final chance to sway the houseguests’ votes. Ashley isn’t ready to say goodbye to the houseguests yet, and wants everyone to do what’s best for their games and she hopes it’s them. Taylor wants to check off her checklist and wants to cultivate the culture of the house and have some fun.
Notably neither talks much game, but it’s the perceived game of one side of the house that Ashley spilled that leads to her downfall. The Rome side of the house — he, Jason, Melody and Lyric — as well as Mallory go 5-0 to send Ashley home, putting her in a major hole before any of the Crossover or Red Corner alliances can even cast a vote.
Given how houseguests rarely want to be seen as working against the majority, this more less seals Ashley’s fate. By a unanimous vote of 14-0, Ashley is evicted from the Big Brother house.
What went wrong?
Ashley felt like the vote was going against her heading into tonight’s eviction. Ashley says she found people she wanted to work with, but felt almost like she was beggining as people were non-commital.
When it comes to what happened, Ashley initially thought she was safe, as people kept saying how much they loved her. Ultimately she wonders if people just changed their minds. Ashley says she really doesn’t know what happened, which shows she clearly still doesn’t recogize her fatal game mistake of spilling too much information to somone not necessarily locked in on her side. In the end, someone had to be the first one sent home. And unfortunately for her, that person was Ashley. But hey, it’s not all bad. At least she can say she had her first burger in the Big Brother house.
Time Capsule Twist
Before we can get to the next head of household competition, first we need to settle a new twist — the BB Time Capsule. For the next six weeks, America will vote to secretly send one houseguest into the BB Time Capsule to play a game with a chance to win a power if they win or a punishment if they lose. The houseguest selected by America will be secretly notified sometime in the next 24 hours.
