The start of Big Brother Season 28 is just days away and on Tuesday the reality stalwart revealed the cast that we’ll be watching nearly 24/7 for the rest of the summer. Including the blockbuster (no pun intended) addition of Rick Devens from the Survivor universe after the initial cast reveal.
Big Brother Season 28 debuts Thursday, July 9, at 8 p.m. ET on CBS with a 90-minute season premiere. To kick off this season’s festivities, Big Brother revealed this summer’s cast on a livestream on its new YouTube channel, dubbed the Big Brother Broveal, on Tuesday. Who’s moving in for a little trip through time? Let’s take a look below.
Who is in the cast for Big Brother Season 28?
Big Brother Season 28 will feature 14 houseguests (at least who have been revealed), including former RuPaul’s Drag Race contestant Jason De Puy.

I note above that these are the announced houseguests as there have been heavy rumors of Season 26 favorite Angela Murray returning and 14 housguests feels like a low number — Season 27 started with 16 announced houseguests and added one more. And don’t forget that former Big Brother winner Rachel Reilly wasn’t revealed as a houseguest until the Season 27 premiere last summer.
All of this to say, save some room for more potential houseguests.
UPDATE: Well, that didn’t take long. Dalton Ross of Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Rick Devens, most recently seen on Survivor 50, will be one of TWO Survivor castaways moving into the Big Brother house this summer. Season 46 and 50 contestant Dee Valladares has also been heavily rumored to be a houseguest for this season.

UPDATE 2: Another shoe has dropped. As was widely expected, Season 26 fan favorite Angela Murray has entered the house, per Sharon Tharp. The other Survivor houseguest is expected to be revealed on Big Brother: Unlocked on Friday.

What is the theme for Big Brother Season 28?
After a trip to Hotel Mystere in Season 27, the houseguests will be going on another trip in Season 28 — a trip through time. CBS revealed on July 1 that the season’s “Time Trip” theme will make time itself the ultimate twist.
A CBS press release explains in further detail that:
Houseguests will enter a world where rooms, relics and competitions transport them across moments in time, while early twists shake up the game from the start. Inspired by decades like the ’80s and Y2K, new powers and challenges can disrupt strategy and alliances.
The theme will also extend to the Big Brother Season 28 House, which was also revealed on Wednesday. As with every season, elements of the season’s theme will shape the decor of the house. CBS’ press release explained some of the house highlights, including:
- Time-Bending Entryway: Houseguests are greeted by a faux neon sign and array of clocks, immediately showcasing that time is fractured, unpredictable and constantly in motion.
- Living Room of Eras: 17-foot gothic windows glow against oxblood stone walls, blending classic and industrial design alongside relics from across history. CBS says this will serve as a reminder that anything from any era of the reality icon could shape the game.
- Nostalgic Trophies: A 1940s jukebox and an ’80s transparent phone highlight the mix of decades, celebrating nostalgia as past, present and future collide.
- Relic Lab Hallway: The iconic time laser returns alongside quirky failed inventions including a pogo stick, keytar and more, all displayed as relics of past experiments.
- Clockwork Bathroom: Gears and intricate mechanical details surround Houseguests, while sub-atomic-inspired lighting fixtures create an “otherworldly atmosphere.”
- The Artifact Bedroom: Housing five Houseguests, CBS says this artifact-filled room features two mysterious doorways – one to the past, one to the future.
- Futuristic Sleep Pods Room: Described as a sleek retreat with pod beds, organic ladders and nebula visuals, this room will offer a “calm, futuristic escape from the chaos of the game.”
- Upstairs Lounge: The Upstairs Lounge is said to feature vintage tech lining the shelves, while arched windows overlooking the living room “make it a prime vantage point for eavesdropping, while the custom-built sofa is perfectly suited for both strategizing and showmancing.”
- Time-Lapse Gym: Walls wrapped in time-lapse photography create the illusion of motion and progression.
- Clock Tower Feature: Tying the entire house together, a dramatic clock tower crowns the space, a symbolic reminder that in this game, time is always ticking … but never predictable.
