86′: CHANCE! How did South Korea not score? That’s one of the best double saves you will ever see from Raul Rangel. Cho Gue-Sung gets on the end of a cross and it’s a solid save from the keeper, but the follow up save is even better as he gets a finger tip on it to keep it out.
64′: CHANCE! Raúl Jiménez gets his biggest chance of the night, but it’s saved. Jiménez controls a cross at the back post and takes a shot but the angle is too tight and the keeper makes the save.
49′: GOAL FOR MEXICO! It’s a disaster from the South Korean goalkeeper. The ball is headed up in the air and it’s an easy catch, or at least should have been. Somehow, someway, he spills it. The ball falls to Luis Romo, who taps it into an empty net. 1-0 Mexico.
48′: CHANCE! Jesús Gallardo finds himself in a great position on the left side behind the South Korean defense, but his angle tightens with a bad touch and he ends up hitting the side netting. Good start to the second half from Mexico.
HT: Boo’s ring out from the home crowd at the half. There wasn’t much action in the first half from either side. South Korea had slightly more possession at 53%. Mexico had three shots, South Korea had two. Mexico had the only shot on target in the match. On DraftKings Sportsbook, a draw is currently the most likely outcome at +110. Mexico’s moneyline is set at +165, while South Korea are +390 to take the three points.
19′: CHANCE! Julián Quiñones is so close to opening the scoring for Mexico. He gets his head on a delicious cross but it forces a great save from South Korea’s Kim Seung-Gyu. Quiñones opened the scoring against South Africa and almost did the same in this one. Things are starting to heat up in this match.
16′: CHANCE! Son Heung-min was played through on goal and lifted the ball over the goalkeeper. He was denied by Edson Álvarez, who did an overhead kick off the line to save the goal. There was a question of offside there, so even if it went in, it might’ve been ruled out by VAR. Mexico have had the better of this game so far until that chance for Son against the run of play.
1′: And we’re off! We have kickoff in Guadalajara, and the second game of Mexico’s World Cup is underway.
