What happened last time on Big Brother Season 28?

Devens won the Week 2 Head of Household competition in a country-themed disc-sliding challenge, beating Haley in the final round after accidentally winning a title he didn’t even want. Once in power, Angela convinced him to go big — targeting Rome through a backdoor plan rather than playing it safe with easy nominations.

Devens nominated Jason, Melody and Lyric for eviction, all three of whom are connected to Rome. He used his nomination speech to reveal which players Rome asked him to protect, then called a 4:30 a.m. Toolshed meeting while ignoring Rome’s knock at the HOH door. The combined Crossovers and Red Corner alliance — now operating as the Toolshed — has the numbers and is ready to send Rome home if the veto is used.

Angela became the first houseguest sent into the BB Time Capsule and landed on a punishment — the Hard-Boiled Detective egg costume for seven days.

What to expect on Big Brother tonight

The Power of Veto competition

Tonight’s veto competition will determine whether the Toolshed’s backdoor plan can move forward. If Devens or one of his allies wins, he can remove a nominee and put Rome directly on the block. If Jason, Melody or Lyric wins and takes themselves off, Devens still has the option to name Rome as a replacement. The only scenario where Rome avoids the block entirely is if a nominee wins and uses it on themselves while Devens decides against the backdoor — which, based on Sunday’s episode, seems unlikely.

The Toolshed made their intentions crystal clear in that late-night meeting: if someone comes off the block, Rome goes up. Devens kicked the hornet’s nest with his nomination speech and he’s committed to following through.

The house meeting fallout

Sunday’s episode ended on a cliffhanger — Jason tried to clap back at Devens after nominations, Angela called him a “messy boy” and the house appeared ready to erupt into a full-blown battle. Tonight should show how that confrontation plays out.

Rome also confronted Devens about being ignored at the HOH door, promising to bring war if the other side comes after his people. Angela’s ominous response — telling Rome to sleep well because a big day was coming — suggests things escalated further than what we saw Sunday.

Rome’s shrinking options

Rome’s game is in serious trouble. Devens publicly blew up his alliances, revealed who he prioritized and declared war in front of the entire house. Even the people Rome thought he could count on are backing away, and the Toolshed’s eight-person majority makes it nearly impossible to gather enough votes to survive if he lands on the block.

Rome’s best hope is that the veto isn’t used at all, keeping the nominations the same and forcing the house to choose between Jason, Melody and Lyric. But given Devens’ stated goal, that outcome seems unlikely unless Rome or one of his allies wins the Power of Veto and refuses to use it.

Jason’s mounting problems

Jason was already in trouble before nominations. He’d spent Week 1 openly plotting against the reality icons and bragging about manipulating Angela — all of which got relayed back to the Crossovers through Drew. Now he’s sitting on the block, and his attempt to clap back at Devens after the nomination ceremony only confirmed to the Toolshed that he’s a threat worth keeping on their radar.

Even if Jason isn’t the primary target this week, the way he’s handled himself since nominations could move him up the list. He’s the secondary target behind Rome, and if Rome somehow avoids the block, Jason’s loud mouth could make him the fallback.

Where does the Toolshed go from here?

The Toolshed has eight members and complete control. But dominance this early creates its own problems. Devens can’t compete for HOH next week, meaning the alliance needs someone else to step up or risk losing power for the first time. And internal dynamics are already showing friction — Dee and Angela continue to distrust Drew and the alliance between Red Corner members and Crossover members is tenuous at best.

If they execute the Rome backdoor cleanly, the Toolshed cements itself as the dominant force of the season. If something goes wrong tonight — a veto win by the wrong person, a crack in the alliance’s resolve — Week 2 could get a lot messier than anyone in that 4:30 a.m. meeting anticipated.
