Stan Son

Stan joined DraftKings in December of 2020. It was a glorious time, except for that whole COVID thing, when we got Madden streams and boisterous bat flips from the KBO. I was brought on board to bring some West Coast flavor. I especially love hoops, and most of my content is in that arena. When I walk along the beach, strumming my guitar, the beat that I hear is not one of crashing waves. No, it is the beat of the ball bouncing off the hardwood with highs provided by the squeaks of the sneakers. Ball is life.

Anthony Santander powers Orioles to 7-5 win over Astros

Houston took the opener of a four-game set in Baltimore on Thursday by the count of 6-0. On Friday, it looked to be another cake walk, as it scored four runs in the third inning, then added another in the sixth for the 5-2 lead. Jose Altuve ($5,400; 21 FPTS) opened up the scoring with […]

Adam Scott leads BMW Championship heading into the weekend

Like a leopard lying in the bushes, waiting for the prey to get closer, Adam Scott ($8,300; 91 FPTS) shot a four-under 68 on Thursday, two shots off the lead. On Friday, he leapt and pounced, strangling the course and the field with a nine-under 63, tied for the low round of the day. Scott […]

Remembering Kobe Bryant ahead of Mamba Day

Remembering Kobe Bryant ahead of Mamba Day

NBA•NBA

When I was asked to write up something about the best performances in Kobe Bryant’s career to commemorate Mamba Day (8/24), I was both honored and anxious. Then I realized that DraftKings HQ is in Boston and I had a not-so-sneaky suspicion that no one else wanted to embark upon the journey. I KID I […]

Braves SP Spencer Schwellenbach strikes out nine in 3-2 win over Phillies

Atlanta has a rich history with pitchers, and its latest iteration continues to impress. Spencer Schwellenbach ($8,500; 30.6 FPTS) has had some bumps and bruises in his rookie campaign, but he was posting a more-than-respectable 3.39 FIP, 10.11 K/9, 1.67 BB/9 and 1.19 HR/9 in 75.2 innings pitched. On Thursday, he neutered a potent Philadelphia […]

Pirates SP Paul Skenes dominates Reds with nine strikeouts

Paul Skenes ($9,900; 33.7 FPTS) was one of the best pitching prospects coming out of college and was selected first overall by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2023. But baseball is difficult and many prospects keep Flava Flav in our consciousness. “Yeah booyyeeee! Don’t believe the hype!” But Skenes has been the real deal, making a […]

Nolan Arenado walks it off in grand fashion

Wednesday’s game between the Brewers and Cardinals played out innocently enough, as both starting pitchers held the opposing offenses to two runs and the game remained tied 2-2 after six innings. The Blue Jays jumped out to what looked like an insurmountable lead on Wednesday, scoring three runs in the first inning and another three runs in the third. From 1986 to 1992, the Oakland Athletics had the Bash Brothers. Jose Canseco and Mark McGwire both hit at least 30 home runs five times during that period with two seasons over 40. Fast forward more than 30 years, and MLB has the modern-day version in the Bronx Bombers. Juan Soto ($6,500; 31 FPTS) entered […]

White Sox Win! White Sox Win! White Sox Win!

White Sox Win! White Sox Win! White Sox Win!

The 1899 Cleveland Spiders won only 20 games. That record will likely never be broken. The Philadelphia Athletics, though, won only 36 games in both the 1916 and 1919 seasons. The 2024 Chicago White Sox had 30 wins with 35 games left in the season entering Wednesday’s game in San Francisco. Those who took the […]
