NFL Week 3 is almost in the books, pending two Monday night matchups, but the opening odds for Week 4 are up on DraftKings Sportsbook and it’s time to give a lookey-loo. Hey, Halloween decorations have already permeated our consciousness in late September, so this is just the status quo.
On Thursday night, we are blessed with a NFC East battle for the cellar, as both the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants are 1-2.
The Sunday slate has seven games in the early window. Four of those games are within a field goal while there are three home dogs. The late-afternoon slate consists of three games. The night game is a battle for B supremacy, as the Buffalo Bills travel to Baltimore, in a game that features two of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in the league.
Monday once again features two games. The once high-flying Dolphins have been squished due to the Tua Tagovailoa injury, and this game has the lowest total on the week at 38. Like Yin and Yang, the other game could be an offensive bonanza, as the Seattle Seahawks visit the fast turf in Detroit and strut in with a 3-0 record.

This will be a short week for the Bengals, as they play on Monday night. In addition, it’s Andy Dalton revenge week! Dalton is coming off a 319-yard, three-touchdown evisceration of the Raiders in Las Vegas. Will we get the Red Rifle or Raggedy Andy?

The Sam Darnold-led Vikings are 3-0! And it hasn’t been all cupcakes. Sure, they overwhelmed the Giants, but wins over the 49ers and Texans are no laughing matter. Now, Minnesota must head to the not-so-frozen tundra in Green Bay in a divisional matchup that could see Jordan Love return to action.

The Buccaneers just got stomped by the Broncos at home. Now, they must contend with the Eagles. Both teams are 2-1 and have allowed 63 and 62 points. The Eagles have scored 70 points while the Bucs have scored 64. Both teams have flashed brilliance and incompetence. Get your popcorn ready.

Arthur Smith and the Steelers were a match made in heaven. So far, the honeymoon period has been nothing but perfume and sunshine, as the Steelers are 3-0 and have allowed 10, six and 10 points. Pittsburgh is currently 31st in run/pass ratio, passing only 37.9% of the time. The Colts have struggled offensively and have been exposed at times in run defense. Now they face one of the best defenses in the league and an offense that wants to pound the rock.

Both of these teams entered the season with hype and optimism. Now, there is smell of pessimism floating through the air. The Jaguars are 0-2 heading into Monday night’s game and the offense has scored a paltry 30 points. This will be a short week for them heading into Houston. The Texans haven’t been firing on all cylinders, but they are 2-1 and it’s only a matter of time before they start humming. These teams are intimately familiar with each other, so the range of outcomes is wide. Last season, the Texans thumped the Jaguars, 37-17 in the first meeting, but then lost at home, 24-21 in late November.

The Rams are coming off the high of their come-from-behind win over the division rival 49ers. Will there be a hangover, especially since having to travel east for this one? Da Bears lost again, but there’s reason for optimism as Caleb Williams did some things, going 33-of-52 for 363 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. The Rams defense is still awful while the Bears defense is one of the better units in the league, especially in the secondary.

That was a cute win for the Broncos in Week 3. I kid I kid. They played well on both sides of the ball and Bo Nix was slicing and dicing the Bucs defense through the air while skating past yard markers on the ground. The Jets are a different animal, though. Aaron Rodgers looks healthy and is still one of the best quarterbacks in the league. They have a stout run game and a formidable defense.

Washington’s offensive coordinator returns to his old stomping grounds where he was the head man in Arizona for four seasons. The patented Horizontal Raid offense still reigns supreme in Washington with Jayden Daniels—aka Kyler Murray 2.0—guiding the ship. Daniels has been giving the business on the ground, but the aerial attack has been non-threatening with an average yards per attempt at a league-low 4.6 yards. Speaking of Kyler Murray, he’s been doing his thing both on the ground and through the air. The average yards per attempt has been 9.3, fifth-best in the NFL, and now he gets a matchup on one of the most generous pass defenses in the league.

San Francisco is the only double-digit favorite in Week 4. The 49ers are 1-2 after they Rams came back in Week 3 for the emotional division win, so they should be very focused in this one. The Patriots have scored 39 points on the season, have offensive line issues, and are non-threatening on offense. The Patriots do play solid defense and the 49ers are dealing with a plethora of injuries.

The Raiders beat the Ravens in Baltimore then got smoked by Andy Dalton at home in Week 3. The Browns lost to the Cowboys and only scored 17 points against them, barely beat the Jaguars, and just lost to the Giants. Shrug. The movable object vs. the stoppable force.

The similarities are plentiful in this one. Both have dual threat quarterbacks. Both want to run the ball. The difference is that Buffalo has played well so far this season, especially the defense, while Baltimore has not. That said, they possess a ton of talent on both sides of the ball and are well coached.

For Miami, Skylar Thompson has been bad—unable to pull the trigger and throw it down the field, and he got injured during Week 3. Tim Boyle came in and essentially did his best Thompson impersonation. Although, he did let it fly at times. Anyways, the Dolphins offense is in trouble without Tua, and the total reflects that. The Titans are 0-3, but Will Levis did some things in Week 3. The problem is that he also did some things for the Packers as well.

Seattle sits atop the NFC West at 3-0. The defense has played well, but it’s been the offense guided by Ryan Grubb that has brought the most optimism. Detroit has struggled to start the season, but we know what they are capable of and this game could turn into a shootout on the fast track in Detroit.
