Maine’s very own college basketball phenom Cooper Flagg kind of keeps the sports lights on around here (I live in southern ME). Folks in town speak about him like he’s their neighbor, even though he lived three hours north of us. Not a trip to the barbershop goes by without someone asking me how I […]

We all felt it, right? Surely we heard it. Just when Belinda had concluded her rather impulsive accosting of Greg (“Gary,” he corrects her) at the dinner table, and as she returned to her own, the season three theme song started to overlay. Hard. Now, we get some pans of the larger dining pavilion as […]

A whorl of rumors in Indianapolis, and none of them about Cooper Kupp. Nice work, Rams. The smoke and mirrors of the potential Matthew Stafford trade (which was never going to happen), his official contract restructuring yesterday, and the cherry-on-top extension of LT Alaric Jackson have done plenty to allay the concerns of Rams fans […]

Earlier this week I wrote quite a bit about the 2025 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine. DraftKings Sportsbook had a few props—like whether or not Xavier Worthy’s 4.21 record would be broken, whether or not the fastest time will be o/u 4.255 seconds, etc.—for all the folks who might want to get in on […]

Mike White’s entrenched us in a muggy morass of inscrutable social clues once more. Two episodes in to this season of The White Lotus, which takes place in Thailand, and it remains anyone’s guess as to which of our ensemble was among the cold-open dead in the show’s initial sequence. Which is just how we […]

In the same way that pitchers and catchers reporting to Spring Training eases us all into the marathon of the regular season, I’ve spent my time aggregating some high-level, easily-digestible trends worth knowing for fantasy baseball managers looking to get a leg up in their drafts. Seeing as how many fantasy baseball leagues are some […]

Whoever needed to hear Sean McVay just plain didn’t. I’m not sure if it was Matthew Stafford and his agent, or Les Snead and the other front office folks for the Los Angeles Rams—but neither side heard. At worst, neither listened the plea of the franchise head coach who was so gutted by the heartbreaking, […]

As I’ve been evaluating this gluttonous slate of college hoops for a Wednesday night, I’ve identified two prop bets I’m targeting for the marquee games tonight. I’ve got one for Kentucky vs. Oklahoma, and one for Michigan State vs. Maryland. You can find my picks and predictions for both those games (and many more, with […]

After two blistering home upsets last night—unranked Georgia over No. 3 Florida and unranked Oklahoma State over No. 9 Iowa State—we’ve got another college hoops slate with fringe teams looking to make statements against ranked squads. Bubble teams are playing more desperately—or, at least, a bit more fast and loose—and it’s throwing dominant offenses like […]

If you couldn’t tell, college hoops is full-court pressing its way into your cultural consciousness now that the Super Bowl is over. Indeed, we all had our unexpected fun with the Four Nations Tournament, and we’re all drinking in the fragrance of Spring that comes when pitchers and catchers report. No matter. We’re but weeks […]

Yeah—we’re really already asking that question. We’re dangerously close to its answer, too: the 2025 NFL Combine kicks off this Thursday, February 27th, at 3pm E.T. It lasts the entire weekend, with events spread throughout the subsequent weekend; the final day of the Combine is Sunday, March 2nd. As always, it’s taking place at Lucas […]
