First Touchdown Scorer Prop Bets for Commanders vs. 49ers on Monday Night Football

We’re only wrapping up Week 6 with tonight’s Monday Night Football contest between the Commanders and the 49ers, but I think it would be fair to say that these two franchises have already experienced a full-season’s worth of injuries.

However, while questionable tags and backup running backs are a nightmare for fantasy, they create value in the betting space.

Can we exploit some of that value this evening in the first touchdown scorer market? Let’s break down the odds on the DraftKings Sportsbook and make a couple of picks.

Commanders vs. 49ers First Touchdown Scorer Odds

Commanders vs. 49ers First Touchdown Scorer Picks

George Kittle First TD Scorer (+750)

I’m excited about this Kittle pick. Here’s a couple things to keep in mind about the veteran tight end heading into this juicy matchup on Monday night. First and foremost, with Mike Evans (+550) dealing with rib and Achilles injuries, and Deebo Samuel (hamstring) likely headed for IR, Kittle feels like the 49ers’ most healthy pass catcher. He’s also seen his usage tick up in recent weeks, with Kittle either leading or tied for the team lead in receptions (15) and touchdown receptions (3) since the beginning of Week 3. Now let’s factor in a struggling Washington defense. The Commanders have been eviscerated by opposing passing attacks, and that’s specifically translated into huge tight end performances. Washington has surrendered 1.4 touchdowns per contest to opposing TEs — the second-highest figure in the NFL. That includes multi-touchdown days to Dallas Goedert, Jake Ferguson and Isaiah Likely. Woof.

Jayden Daniels First TD Scorer (+1700)

Here’s a fun stat. Do you know who leads the Commanders in red zone rushing attempts? It’s Jacory Croskey-Merritt (groin), who has already been ruled out for Week 6. Even better, Kaytron Allen ranks seconds on the team in red zone carries, despite the fact that the sixth-round pick was waived two weeks ago and is currently a member of the Miami Dolphins’ practice squad. I guess I’m just trying to paint the picture of how uncertain Washington’s backfield is at the moment. Rachaad White (+850) will be the team’s starting RB on Monday Night Football, and he’ll likely get a bulk of the high leverage touches, but I think I’d rather just take my chances on Daniels with odds that are exactly two-times longer. Daniels has 10 career rushing touchdowns, with No. 9 and No. 10 coming last week against the Giants on explosive plays. At this point, Daniels is the best rushing weapon that the Commanders employ.
