Best Christian McCaffrey Prop Bet for 49ers vs. Commanders on Monday 10/19/26

Best Christian McCaffrey Prop Bet for 49ers vs. Commanders on Monday 10/19/26

Although Christian McCaffrey spent the first five and a half seasons of his career with the Carolina Panthers, he’s arguably become the face of the San Francisco 49ers in his four and a half campaigns in the Bay Area. It’s fitting; the three-time Offensive Player of the Year finalist and two-time Comeback Player of the Year finalist was a pioneer as one of the first high-volume receiving backs, just as San Francisco’s franchise was named after migrants from around the world who settled in California in search of gold.

McCaffrey’s 49ers are 5-0, one of just two remaining undefeated teams in the NFC and three league-wide, and they’ll have a chance to become the first 6-0 team tonight, when they host the Washington Commanders on Monday Night Football. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. ET.

San Francisco is a 7.5-point favorite for tonight’s matchup at DraftKings Sportsbook (+120 on the Moneyline), with the point total set to 51.5. Washington is +310 on the Moneyline.

Below, I’ve detailed my prop bet centered around McCaffrey for tonight’s nationally-televised showdown.

Christian McCaffrey 10+ Receiving Yards – 1Q (+140)

McCaffrey hasn’t been quite as involved as a receiver as usual this season, posting his second-fewest receptions and fewest receiving yards per game in his career. After hauling in five of his eight targets in the 49ers’ season-opening win in Australia against the Los Angeles Rams, McCaffrey hasn’t garnered more than five targets in any game since, recording four or fewer catches in each game. By Pro Football Focus’ standards, he’s actually posted the 23rd-worst receiving grades among 57 qualified running backs this season, and seven running backs have averaged more receiving yards per game.

However, in the opening frame, McCaffrey has had four catches for 48 yards, the most receiving yards (on the best efficiency) that he has recorded in any quarter. He had at least 10 receiving yards at the end of the first quarter in two of his first three games of the season, plus eight yards and an incomplete target in Week 1. In general, San Francisco tends to throw the most frequently in the first quarter (61.5% of its first-quarter plays have been dropbacks, while only 38.7% of its fourth-quarter plays have been), and tonight could be no exception if the 49ers take the lead early and run out the clock late. With Deebo Samuel out with a hamstring injury and Mike Evans (rib/Achilles) questionable, McCaffrey could play a slightly bigger role in the passing game than usual.

McCaffrey should have an opportunity to impart damage against a pretty gettable Washington defense that has allowed the fourth-most passing yards per game on the fifth-highest passer rating. The Commanders have been somewhat better against opposing running backs through the air, since cornerback Mike Sainristil has been their primary defensive culprit, but their generally mediocre tackling and propensity to allow yards after the catch surely won’t help matters. McCaffrey will also take some snaps against Sainristil, since he lined up in the slot on more than a quarter of his snaps in Week 5; Sainristil has allowed a 144.3 passer rating on his targets this season.
