AFC North foes are set to battle it out on Thursday Night Football. The Steelers (2-1) are looking to make it two straight wins after their triumph over the Bengals on Sunday. As for the Browns (2-1), a surprisingly good start has them tied atop this ultra-competitive division. If Cleveland is going to keep the ball moving tonight, Harold Fannin will likely play a major role. Following a dominant showing on Sunday, the tight end is emerging as a top option in the passing game.
The Steelers enter Thursday’s contest as 2.5-point favorites over the Browns. Let’s break down the best Harold Fannin prop bet available tonight on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Harold Fannin Receiving Yards Prop Bet vs. Steelers
As previously mentioned, it was a strong showing last weekend for Fannin. The tight end snagged seven catches on nine targets against the Panthers. Even more impressive, he managed to score two touchdowns. Through three games this season, the 22-year-old leads the Browns in receptions (14) while ranking second in receiving yards (126) and targets (18). It’s safe to say there’s some chemistry developing here with starting quarterback Deshaun Watson.
The downside to Fannin’s production is that it may not be replicable. Cleveland’s recent wins have come on the backs of their defense, among the NFL’s better units. On the other side of the ball, things have been more of a slog. The Browns are averaging just 266.0 yards per game this season, third-worst in the league. Now, they’ll take on one of the sport’s better defensive units in the Steelers. Pittsburgh is allowing 305.7 yards per game to opponents, seventh-best in football. During two games between these clubs last season, Cleveland scored a combined 22 points.
If there was one weakness for this defense last season, it was over the middle of the field. Pittsburgh allowed the fourth-most receptions (106) and fifth-most receiving yards (1,121) to opposing tight ends in 2025. Granted, those numbers have gone way down to start this current season. However, it’s only a three-game sample size. Besides, struggling offenses like the Falcons and Patriots weren’t throwing the ball well in any capacity. Fannin has had some success in this spot, recording a combined nine catches for 111 yards against Pittsburgh last season. Keep in mind, those numbers were recorded with backup quarterbacks Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders starting.
Unlike in years past, today’s game could have a bit more scoring than usual. After all, it’s a warm day in Cleveland; weather won’t be a factor. Fannin, having logged over 85% of Cleveland’s offensive snaps this season, should stay on the field as much as possible. Pittsburgh, wielding one of the league’s better group of pass rushers, will be aggressive when it comes to getting after Watson. That means the veteran quarterback will need to get rid of the ball in a hurry. Fannin has snagged 40+ receiving yards in ten of 19 career outings. There’s no reason to think he can’t do so again on Thursday night.
Best Bet: Harold Fannin 40+ receiving yards (-117)
