This week should have been a disaster for the Icons. All three were up on the block, and their aura of invincibility was torn to shreds. But out of the ashes came just about the best outcome possible.
Devens saved his game in the BB Blockbuster, adding another comp win to his resume. And Dee pulled off a miracle, going from likely No. 1 target to saving herself thanks to her powers of persuasion and Barrett falling asleep at the wheel.
And if the Icons rose like the phoenix, then I think this week could come back to haunt Yash and Barrett for years to come.

Notable Rankings
This was the week the newbies were praying for all season. The Icons were all on the block, and specifically the two Survivor alums were in mortal danger, with one of them all but guaranteed to go home. Barrett was open with the fact that if after all this Angela was the one to go home, his HOH would have been a failure.
Well, failure it was, as Dee pulled off a magic trick worthy of Houdini, escaping the block and turning Yash into a giant hypocrite in one of the most confounding and shocking eviction outcomes in recent Big Brother history.
1. Dee (+2)
By all accounts Dee should be in jury house right now. Barrett went in his HOH reign thinking he had to get out one of the Survivor alums after taking his big shot. Yash and Taylor have been talking about evicting Dee and Devens for weeks. Assuredly, none of the newbies thought that evicting Angela would be a successful week when they agreed to a ceasefire.
But that’s where we ended up, and it’s largely due to Dee’s powers of persuasion. At one point, Taylor even says out loud that the fact Dee was able to turn Taylor and Yash against their own plan should be a sign of what a threat she is. But they went and voted to keep her anyways. Which is especially crazy, because the BB Bribe is still hanging around Yash’s neck, protecting Dee in the event Yash becomes HOH.
Big Brother legend Dan Gheesling put it well — if you have a shot at a competitor like Dee, you have to take it. The fact she was able to talk them out of it is another line on her resume.

Pulling off this ridiculous save proved that despite her messiness, Dee is the player to beat in this game. If she’s in a Final 2 with Yash, between this save and the BB Bribe, I don’t see how an impartial juror could not vote to give her the win.
2. Devens (+2)
It’s important not to lose sight of the fact that Devens also added to his resume this week.
For the second straight week, Devens won a do-or-die BB Blockbuster to save himself. Devens isn’t traditionally thought of as a comp beast, but he has proven to be a strong competitor of late, finishing often in the top 3 of HOH comps and nearly beating Yash in this week’s BB Comics veto comp.
Now heading into the Final 7, Devens has multiple BB Blockbusters on his resume, in addition to his HOH win, as well as his blindsides of Rome and Kamu. And he’s still protected by the BB Bribe, like Dee. He also is less steadfast in his convictions than Dee, which I see as a positive. He’s been wary of Drew for most of the game, but this week he was open to the idea that Drew might be the nefarious mastermind plotting against them after all. Dee, on the other hand, has latched on to the idea that Drew has been playing the long con against the Icons and can’t be trusted under any circumstance and she won’t be moved from that position.
If Dee is looking like the 1A favorite to win Big Brother Season 28, I think Devens should be 1B.
3. Yash (-2)
I felt so good about Yash following last week. It felt like he was really growing into this game, was increasingly dangerous as a comp beast and should have a great path to victory. But this decision to save Dee and evict Angela calls a lot of his thinking into question.
Yes, he’s a comp beast, as proven by yet another Veto win, but I truly don’t understand what he was thinking in keeping Dee. Given he literally can’t nominate her for eviction on his next HOH, he should have considered it a no-brainer to take her out when he had the chance. Yet, despite railing against the vets all season, as well as mocking and really hating Drew for aligning with them, he has now done the same. It really kind of makes his vendetta against Drew look hypocritical, when you think about it.
When the season is over, Yash may look back at this vote as a turning point in what went wrong. Could Yash comp out and win it all? For sure. Does he still have a strong case to be the winner of Big Brother Season 28? Absolutely. But I think four-time Big Brother vet Janelle Pierzina has it just about right when it comes to who deserves to win at this point.

5. Barrett (-3)
Barrett, Barrett, Barrett. You finally got a chance to take your shot, and it 100 percent blew up in your face. Some of it was out of his control, but he made a lot of mistakes along the way to find himself going from the penthouse to the outhouse.
Putting up all three Icons together? In a vacuum, good move. Blindsiding Drew by not picking him to play in the Veto comp and instead choosing Yash, who was your backup target? Not great. Not campaigning and basically hiding alone in the HOH room for most of the week after taking your best shot, leaving Dee free rein to turn Yash and Taylor against your play? Disastrous.
Earlier in the season, the biggest criticism of Barrett was that there were weeks he simply took off and chilled. It seemed like Mallory’s eviction finally activated Barrett, but he fell back into that bad habit HARD this week. Maybe he was shook by the Icons’ threats at the Veto ceremony, especially Dee’s. But if you’re going to take a big swing, knowing that it will absolutely infuriate Dee and make her an enemy, then you HAVE to follow through and do the work to ensure she actually goes home. You can’t take the shot and then clock out thinking your work is done. Not seeing the shot all the way through leaves you open to exactly the disaster which befell Barrett, especially with a player of Dee’s caliber. He can be angry with Yash and Taylor for siding with the Icons in the end, but really he has no one to blame but himself. Now, his game could be on life support with a vengeful Dee and Devens out for his blood.
