WWE’s new premium live event, Sunday Night’s Main Event, is taking place in Atlanta, Georgia, at State Farm Arena. The show’s name is similar to Saturday Night’s Main Event, a mainstay on WWE’s schedule over the last few years, but it was changed to reflect the day.
Two big one-on-one matches are featured on this card: Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton and Oba Femi vs. Bron Breakker. Four matches are set for this event, along with a musical performance by Atlanta rapper Quavo.
Below are my full predictions, picks, and analysis for every match at Sunday Night’s Main Event, including quick picks for the full card, followed by a deeper breakdown of each matchup.
Sunday Night’s Main Event Quick Picks
| Match | Prediction |
|---|---|
| Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton — Singles Match | Randy Orton |
| Oba Femi vs. Bron Breakker — Singles Match | No Contest |
| Baron Corbin vs. Lil Yachty — Singles Match | Time Limit |
| Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss & Tatum Paxley vs. Jade Cargill, Michin & B-Fab — Six-Woman Tag Team Match | Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss & Tatum Paxley |
Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton — Singles Match
Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton are set for a WrestleMania 42 rematch at Sunday Night’s Main Event. But this time, everyone will get what they want: a straight-up singles match between two all-time greats without anyone else involved, as there was at WrestleMania.
This is a tough match to call, as both wrestlers need a win. As we have seen recently on SmackDown, it wouldn’t be surprising if someone interfered in this match. Orton has lost his last two matches against Rhodes. Also, Orton’s last win at a PLE was WrestleMania 41 against Joe Hendry. I give the edge to Orton in this contest, but it won’t be a clean pinfall win.
Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton Prediction: Randy Orton defeats Cody Rhodes.
Oba Femi vs. Bron Breakker — Singles Match
Two of the top future stars in WWE, Oba Femi and Bron Breakker, will face each other for the first time in a one-on-one match. Both wrestlers are hungry, motivated, and have the skill set to become a WWE Champion in the future. But before either takes that next step, they will settle their differences at Sunday Night’s Main Event. This is a spectacle and could be a special showdown between two top-tier athletes and wrestlers. With both being a major part of WWE’s future, this match will end in a no contest because someone interrupts or the referee cannot contain the two.
Oba Femi vs. Bron Breakker Prediction: Oba Femi vs. Bron Breakker ends in a no contest.
Baron Corbin vs. Lil Yachty — Singles Match
This is a singles match with a five-minute time limit. If Lil Yachty lasts five minutes with Baron Corbin, then his friend, Trick Williams, will get another United States title shot. With a veteran against someone making their debut, you would think it would be a quick beatdown. But I think Lil Yachty shocks everyone by dragging out the match to help Williams.
Baron Corbin vs. Lil Yachty Prediction: Lil Yachty lasts five minutes with Baron Corbin.
Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss & Tatum Paxley vs. Jade Cargill, Michin & B-Fab — Six-Woman Tag Team Match
Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss have been in the midst of an ongoing rivalry with Jade Cargill and her group for a long time. On Sunday, it continues with a Six-Woman Tag Team Match. With the recent addition of Tatum Paxley, I give the advantage to Charlotte Flair’s team.
Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss & Tatum Paxley vs. Jade Cargill, Michin & B-Fab Prediction: Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss & Tatum Paxley pick up the victory.
Predicted Match of the Night
My pick for match of the night at Sunday Night’s Main Event is Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton. The chemistry and history both guys have, combined with their overall talent, should translate into a memorable match.
Final Thoughts on Sunday Night’s Main Event
Although a world title match doesn’t headline this event, it has two highly compelling matches that make the show worth tuning in for.
