Postseason hopefuls are on a collision course tonight in the Lone Star State. The White Sox (53-46) are the surprise story of the 2026 season, still holding onto first place in the AL Central. It’s a different story for the Rangers (50-50), somehow just a half-game behind the AL West-leading Mariners. Safe to say, a win would go a long way tonight for both of these squads. Who has the edge in Tuesday’s potential playoff preview?
The Rangers are favorites (-124) over the White Sox, with the over/under set at 8.5 runs. Below, I’ve laid out my preview, prediction, and best bet for Tuesday’s showdown between Chicago and Texas on DraftKings Sportsbook.
White Sox vs. Rangers pick, best bet today
- Rangers ML (-124): At this point, it’s time to take the White Sox seriously as contenders. However, a struggling starter such as Schultz could derail the team’s momentum. On the road, against a Texas lineup that prefers hitting southpaws, makes it tough to pick Chicago.

The offense gets most of the headlines in Chicago, and for good reason. On the mound, things can be a bit of a coin toss for the South Siders. The weakest member of this rotation at the moment is Noah Schultz. Despite plenty of hype, the former top prospect has struggled at the major league level. Through 53.0 innings of work (11 starts), he’s on the hook for a 5.60 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 47 strikeouts (8.0 K/9). Most concerning, the southpaw has recorded a dismal 4.9 BB/9 ratio. Per Savant, he sits within the bottom 11th percentile in xERA (6.05), walk rate (12.6%) and barrel rate (11.5%).
There’s no other way to slice it: Schultz’s numbers are atrocious. On paper, he stands a better chance than usual of finding success tonight. The Rangers are an inconsistent offense, especially at Globe Life Field. They’re averaging 3.91 runs per game at home, sixth-fewest in baseball. In addition, slugging shortstop Corey Seager (back) is on the injured list. However, Texas has scored the 11th-most runs in the league over its previous ten games (49). In addition, the team has accounted for the seventh-best OPS against left-handed pitching (.741).
It’ll be up to Kumar Rocker to get the Rangers back on track. It’s been a middling season for the Vanderbilt alum, responsible for a 4.40 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 80 strikeouts (8.0 K/9) through 90.0 innings. Much like Schultz, the 26-year-old doesn’t have very impressive peripherals. However, he’s inside the 64th percentile with a 45.1% ground ball rate.
Navigating this Chicago lineup tonight won’t be easy. The team is ninth in runs scored (479), sixth in home runs (131) and 12th in OPS (.732). Keep in mind, that’s without factoring in an extended absence for face of the franchise Munetaka Murakami. The Japanese slugger is back and healthy, alongside fellow standouts Miguel Vargas (134 wRC+), Sam Antonacci (128 wRC+) and Colson Montgomery (112 wRC+).
Still, the South Siders might struggle at the plate on Tuesday. Rocker’s pitch arsenal is a bit unorthodox; his most-used weapon is the slider (38%). When facing that offering against right-handed pitchers, the White Sox are slashing just .221/.279/.329 this season.
Best Bet: Rangers ML (-124)
On many nights, Chicago’s homer-happy lineup alone can power its way to a win. However, Schultz’s struggles as a rookie are impossible to ignore.
