When John Cena announced his retirement tour, a match with Brock Lesnar, one of his biggest career rivals, seemed impossible since The Beast was away from WWE. But Lesnar returned at SummerSlam, hitting Cena with an F5, and added another chapter to their history. This rivalry began in 2002 and is still ongoing, 23 years later, in 2025, which is remarkable.

When did Cena last face Lesnar in a one-on-one match?

The last singles match between John Cena and Brock Lesnar took place at WWE Night of Champions 2014, which saw Cena pick up the victory by DQ. But that wasn’t the last time Cena and Lesnar faced off against one another in a match. That is because the last time they competed against one another was in a triple threat match at WWE Royal Rumble 2015 with Seth Rollins.
