WWE will host its Night of Champions premium live event today in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The event will air live on Peacock at 1:00 p.m. ET. In the main event, John Cena will defend his Undisputed WWE Championship against CM Punk.
Here is my prediction for the Main Event of Night of Champions.
Cena vs. Punk Prediction
A historic rivalry will be renewed on Saturday as Cena will face Punk in their first singles match since 2013. Since Cena began his retirement tour, he has competed in the Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber with Punk. Coincidentally, the last time Cena wrestled Punk for a WWE championship was at Night of Champions in 2012.
Even though the build to this match has been relatively short, Punk has done a good job of reigniting Cena on his return tour. Cena delivered his own “pipe bomb” promo on SmackDown two weeks ago, and it seems like Punk has brought the best out of the Champion. Cena and Punk will face off for their 15th time in a one-on-one match. They are tied 6-6 in their careers, with one match ending via no contest and another had a double pin.
Since Punk returned to WWE, he seemed destined to become a champion once again. Although I think it will happen again for “The Second City Saint”, it doesn’t seem like it is the right moment at Night of Champions. Anything could happen, but it would be surprising if Cena were not Undisputed Champion to headline the first two-night SummerSlam in August.
