Tuesday offers a jam-packed 15-game set of MLB action. All 30 teams from across the league will take the field. That includes a potential playoff preview in the Bronx, as the Yankees host the Rangers. Later tonight, NL West rivals meet when the Dodgers take on the Diamondbacks. Jameson Taillon more than 5.5 strikeouts thrown
The Cubs have been carried by one of baseball’s best offenses. However, Chicago’s pitching has been mediocre for most of the season, ranking 16th in runs allowed per game (4.33). That includes right-hander Jameson Taillon, owner of an uninspiring 4.53 ERA through 49.2 innings of work. Still, while the hurler doesn’t have wipeout stuff, he has managed to tally 42 strikeouts.
In his most recent outing vs. Miami, Taillon tossed six innings of three-run ball, punching out seven batters. The veteran will get another crack at the Fish tonight, this time on the road. In 2025, the Marlins have struck out 8.79 times per game, the sixth-highest mark in baseball (8.79). Against one of the league’s worst lineups, Jamo is positioned for another productive outing on the mound.
Spencer Strider less than 1.5 earned runs allowed
After a month on the injured list, Spencer Strider is finally back on Tuesday. The righty has battled health ailments all season, making just one start on April 16th for the Braves. Despite missing so much time, the 26-year-old is still one of baseball’s most talented pitchers. Since 2022, he ranks first in K/9 rate (13.54) and strikeout rate (36.9%) while finishing second in FIP (2.53).
Atlanta’s ace will go up against a familiar foe tonight in Washington. The Nationals are a respectable offense, ranking 14th in the league with 4.31 runs scored per game. Still, this is Spencer Strider, arguably the most talented pitcher on Earth. It helps that manager Brian Snitker will likely keep his starter on a pitch restriction. A combination of talent and limited workload make it unlikely the Nats will put up multiple runs.
DJ LeMahieu more than 0.5 hits
It’s been a constant slew of health issues this season for the Yankees, most recently losing third baseman Oswaldo Cabrera (ankle). The injury has opened up more playing time for DJ LeMahieu, who made his season debut last week. The former All-Star has been a shell of himself recently, but could 2025 be any different? Through four games, LeMahieu is slashing .333/.385/.583 at the plate.
The 36-year-old has looked solid, but it’s still a small sample size. However, he does have plenty of history against Patrick Corbin, tonight’s starter. Over 58 career at-bats, LeMahieu has posted a .379 batting average against Texas’ experienced arm. On a loaded New York lineup, DJL is one of the last names the Rangers will be worried about. That should give the veteran plenty of good pitches to hit on Thursday.
Luis Arraez less than 1.5 total bases
Luis Arraez is a modern-day enigma. The infielder has a strong claim as one of baseball’s best contact hitters, winning a batting title in three consecutive seasons (2022-2024). However, he doesn’t offer much in any other aspect of the game. That’s been the case once again in 2025. The Venezuelan has posted a .297 batting average in addition to a mediocre .411 slugging percentage.
While most players in baseball are capable of an extra-base hit, that’s far less likely for Arraez. For the seventh-year pro to reach two bases, it’ll likely come via multiple singles. That’s a tough proposition against tonight’s opponent, Chris Bassitt. Toronto’s starter has allowed 18 earned runs over 51.1 innings this season (3.16 ERA). In addition, Arraez hasn’t recorded a hit over five career plate appearances vs. the former All-Star. Even if San Diego’s first baseman gets a single, notching more than one could prove difficult.
Will Warren more than 5.5 strikeouts
As previously mentioned, the Yankees have suffered through a rash of injuries, especially in their rotation. Former Cy Young winner Gerritt Cole is out for the season as he recovers from Tommy John surgery. Reigning AL Rookie of the Year Luis Gil (elbow) is months away from making his return. That’s allowed rookie Will Warren to continue pitching every fifth day, despite some notable early season struggles. The 25-year-old has had four different outings in which he’s failed to reach five innings.
However, over Warren’s last three starts, he’s allowed a total of six earned runs (3.18 ERA). During that time, he’s struck out a combined 24 batters. Coming into Tuesday’s matchup, the Rangers are averaging the fifth-fewest runs per game in baseball (3.46). It doesn’t help that slugging shortstop Corey Seager (hamstring) was recently placed on the 15-day injured list. Keeping that in mind, New York’s young arm is set up to continue his recent success during tonight’s contest.
Teoscar Hernandez more than 1.5 hits + runs + RBIs
A loaded Dodgers roster just got more dangerous, activating Teoscar Hernandez off the injured list on Monday. The outfielder is a key piece for Los Angeles, offering lineup protection for Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts. Through 34 games this season, he’s slashing .306/.324/.582 while driving in nine home runs. Considering the names hitting in front of Hernandez, it’s no surprise he ranks eighth in the National League with 35 RBIs.
Los Angeles’ slept-on slugger can do damage on any given night, including Tuesday. The Diamondbacks will hand the ball to Ryne Nelson, owner of an unimpressive 5.13 ERA this season. Over four career at-bats vs. Arizona’s starter, Hernandez has recorded three hits and two RBIs. As long as his Dodgers teammates get on base, Teo should have multiple opportunities to produce during tonight’s game.
