What are the best cards to chase in 2026 Topps Cosmic Chrome Baseball? The rarest card in a product isn’t always the most useful answer. A SuperFractor or one-in-tens-of-thousands pull is obviously a major hit, but most collectors opening boxes are also looking for premium rookie autographs, recognizable inserts and star cards that can realistically show up in a break.
That’s the approach we’re taking here. The 2026 Cosmic Chrome checklist is led by a deep rookie class, including the late-season favorites in both Rookie of the Year races, along with MVP frontrunners, hobby staples such as Shohei Ohtani and Aaron Judge and several strong multi-player cards.

Using the official Topps checklist and pack odds, these are 10 of the best cards to chase in 2026 Topps Cosmic Chrome Baseball, balancing player appeal, rookie status and rarity without making every selection an almost-impossible one-of-one.

One important note on the odds: Topps publishes pack odds for an entire card type or parallel, not for an individual player. For example, Cosmic Chrome Autograph Variations fall at 1:136 Hobby packs, but that does not mean a specific Kevin McGonigle autograph appears once every 136 packs.
1. Kevin McGonigle Cosmic Chrome Autograph Variation (CCA-KM)
Kevin McGonigle has one of the strongest cases for the top spot because this is exactly what collectors generally want from a new baseball release: a rookie autograph of a player who immediately established himself at the major-league level.
McGonigle separated himself from the American League Rookie of the Year field during the second half of the season. By September 14, he was listed at -800 to win AL Rookie of the Year at DraftKings Sportsbook, and he remained the clear favorite entering the final weeks of the regular season.
The standard Cosmic Chrome Autograph Variation is a much more realistic target than immediately jumping to one of its numbered parallels. Topps lists the autograph category at 1:136 Hobby packs, with Green Space Dust, Gold Interstellar, Orange Galactic, Black Eclipse, Red Flare and SuperFractor parallels providing progressively tougher versions for collectors who want to chase further up the rainbow.
Card: CCA-KM, Kevin McGonigle Cosmic Chrome Autograph Variation
Published category odds: 1:136 Hobby packs.
2. Sal Stewart Cosmic Chrome Autograph Variation (CCA-SST)
Sal Stewart fills the same role on the National League side.
Stewart pulled away in the Rookie of the Year race late in the season and entered the final stretch as the clear NL favorite. That gives his first-year cards considerably more immediate relevance than simply being another rookie name buried in a large checklist.
His Cosmic Chrome Autograph Variation is CCA-SST and shares the same 1:136 Hobby category odds as McGonigle’s autograph set. Stewart also appears in Starfractor and Stars in the Night, giving collectors several alternatives if the autograph is out of reach.
Card: CCA-SST, Sal Stewart Cosmic Chrome Autograph Variation
Published category odds: 1:136 Hobby packs.
3. Roman Anthony Stellar Stars Autograph Variation
Roman Anthony remains one of the biggest rookie names in the hobby, and his Stellar Stars Autograph Variation gives collectors a premium chase without immediately jumping into one-of-one territory.
Topps lists the standard Stellar Stars Autograph Variation at 1:475 Hobby packs. That’s difficult enough to feel like a major hit, but still realistic enough to belong on a list built around cards collectors could actually hope to see surface in boxes and breaks.
Anthony also appears in Planetary Pursuit, Mars Attacks MLB and the main Cosmic Chrome autograph checklist, but the Stellar Stars autograph combines rookie appeal, a distinctive Cosmic-themed design and an autograph in one card.
Card: Roman Anthony Stellar Stars Autograph Variation
Published category odds: 1:475 Hobby packs.
4. Konnor Griffin Mars Attacks MLB (MAM-8)
Mars Attacks MLB is one of the defining new additions to 2026 Cosmic Chrome, so it deserves representation on a list of the product’s best chase cards.
Konnor Griffin is MAM-8 on the 10-card checklist, joining stars such as Shohei Ohtani, Aaron Judge and Paul Skenes along with a select group of rookies.
Topps lists Mars Attacks MLB at 1:1,513 Hobby packs and 1:1,517 Lunar packs. That’s certainly a tough hit, but it’s still far more realistic than the 1:20,000-plus cards at the very top of the rarity chart. For a rookie with Griffin’s hobby profile, it’s one of the more interesting non-autograph targets in the product.
Card: MAM-8, Konnor Griffin Mars Attacks MLB
Published category odds: 1:1,513 Hobby packs; 1:1,517 Lunar packs.
5. Jacob Misiorowski Cosmic Chrome Autograph Variation (CCA-JMI)
Jacob Misiorowski gets an additional boost from timing.
The Brewers enter the release as World Series champions, increasing the spotlight on Milwaukee’s young players just as Cosmic Chrome reaches collectors. Misiorowski combines that championship interest with the premium that already comes with a rookie autograph.
His primary autograph is CCA-JMI, part of the standard Cosmic Chrome Autograph Variation set at 1:136 Hobby packs. He also appears in Cosmic Dust, Starfractor, Stars in the Night and Supernova, so there are several levels at which collectors can chase him.
Card: CCA-JMI, Jacob Misiorowski Cosmic Chrome Autograph Variation
Published category odds: 1:136 Hobby packs.
6. Pete Crow-Armstrong Mars Attacks MLB (MAM-6)
Pete Crow-Armstrong isn’t a rookie, but his 2026 season makes his Mars Attacks MLB card one of the more timely star chases in the release.
Crow-Armstrong closed the regular season as the overwhelming favorite in the National League MVP race and led the NL with a .942 OPS. His MAM-6 card also lands in one of the most visually distinctive new insert sets in Cosmic Chrome.
That’s a better reason to include him than simply choosing another ultra-low-numbered parallel: the card connects a major 2026 season with an insert collectors will immediately associate with this particular release.
Card: MAM-6, Pete Crow-Armstrong Mars Attacks MLB
Published category odds: 1:1,513 Hobby packs; 1:1,517 Lunar packs.
7. Yordan Alvarez Starfractor (SF-63)
Yordan Alvarez provides the American League awards-season counterpart.
Alvarez finished the regular season with a 1.033 OPS, the best mark in the majors, after spending the closing weeks as the clear favorite in the AL MVP race.
His Starfractor is SF-63. At 1:282 Hobby packs, Starfractor is difficult enough to feel like a meaningful pull without drifting into the almost-impossible range. It also gives the list another current-season star rather than relying entirely on rookies and traditional hobby names.
Card: SF-63, Yordan Alvarez Starfractor
Published category odds: 1:282 Hobby packs; 1:283 Lunar packs.
8. Shohei Ohtani Planetary Pursuit Earth (PPE-2)
Planetary Pursuit is too closely tied to Cosmic Chrome to leave off the list, but collectors don’t necessarily need to start at Pluto.
Shohei Ohtani’s Earth card, PPE-2, offers a more realistic entry point into the product’s signature chase. Topps lists Planetary Pursuit Earth at 1:1,200 packs compared to 1:28,000 for Pluto.
Ohtani remains one of the most collectible names in modern baseball, so an Earth card still combines a major player with one of Cosmic Chrome’s most recognizable concepts while avoiding the extreme odds attached to the outer planets.
Card: PPE-2, Shohei Ohtani Planetary Pursuit Earth
Published category odds: 1:1,200 Hobby packs; 1:1,200 Lunar packs.
9. Aaron Judge/Mickey Mantle Dual Star Clusters (DSC-5)
Not every interesting chase has to be exceptionally rare.
DSC-5 pairs Aaron Judge and Mickey Mantle on the same Yankees card. That’s enough name recognition to make it one of the most interesting veteran combinations in the product, even though Dual Star Clusters as a category land once every 25 packs.
The relative accessibility is actually part of the appeal. Collectors have a realistic opportunity to hit a premium-looking card featuring two iconic Yankees without needing to beat four- or five-digit pack odds.
For collectors who want tougher versions, Blue Moon, Green Space Dust, Gold Interstellar and other refractor parallels extend the chase without changing the identity of the card.
Card: DSC-5, Aaron Judge/Mickey Mantle Dual Star Clusters
Published category odds: 1:25 Hobby packs; 1:25 Lunar packs.
10. Shohei Ohtani/Ichiro Star Clusters Dual Autograph (SCDA-IO)
We’ll allow ourselves one true long-shot card in the top 10.
SCDA-IO pairs Shohei Ohtani with Ichiro, giving the set a dual autograph with enormous player recognition and international collector appeal.
The standard Star Clusters Dual Autograph category falls at 1:15,535 Hobby packs, so this isn’t something collectors should expect to pull with any regularity. But unlike choosing a SuperFractor simply because it’s the rarest version, the Ohtani-Ichiro pairing itself is what makes this card special.
Card: SCDA-IO, Shohei Ohtani/Ichiro Star Clusters Dual Autograph
Published category odds: 1:15,535 Hobby packs.
Other rookies to watch in 2026 Topps Cosmic Chrome
The rookie checklist is deep enough that several strong names miss the top 10. JJ Wetherholt appears in Stars in the Night, Cosmic Dust, Mars Attacks MLB, Planetary Pursuit and the main autograph checklist. Munetaka Murakami has Starfractor, Planetary Pursuit and Cosmic Chrome autograph cards, while Nolan McLean, Jac Caglianone, Samuel Basallo and Cam Schlittler also have multiple premium inserts and autographs.
For collectors opening boxes primarily for rookies, those names are worth tracking alongside McGonigle, Stewart, Anthony, Griffin and Misiorowski.
The dream hits: Pluto, SuperFractors and Cosmic Explorers
Of course, Cosmic Chrome still has plenty of cards that qualify as true lottery-ticket pulls. They just aren’t the only cards worth chasing.
- Planetary Pursuit Pluto: 1:28,000 packs
- Cosmic Chrome Autograph SuperFractor: 1:25,177 Hobby packs
- Cosmic Explorers Cut Signature: 1:85,901 Hobby packs
- Star Clusters Dual Autograph SuperFractor: 1:146,032 Hobby packs
- Triple Star Clusters SuperFractor: 1:366,040 packs
Those are enormous hits if they surface, particularly when paired with a top rookie or superstar. But they’re better viewed as dream cards than the baseline for deciding whether a box or break produced a worthwhile chase card.
