Tuesday afternoon, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson appeared on The Pat McAfee Show and gave his thoughts on WrestleMania 41. The Rock wears many hats in the world of the WWE as he is a member of the TKO Board of Directors while portraying “The Final Boss” on TV.
Whenever The Rock’s music hits and he appears on WWE TV, he commands the spotlight and wanted the attention on John Cena at WrestleMania 41. The Rock praised the new WWE Undisputed Champion, “At the end of the night, John raising that title was the bottom line, that was the north star.”
Cena joined forces with The Rock and Travis Scott to attack Cody Rhodes at the Elimination Chamber in March. But since then, The Rock hasn’t appeared on WWE TV. The Rock gave everyone a peek behind the curtain on the build to WrestleMania and how his involvement on TV came to be.
The Rock discussed how TKO CEO Ari Emanuel proposed to him the idea of showing up at the Elimination Chamber. Although Travis Scott was involved in the Main Event of WrestleMania 41, The Rock felt that it was best if he didn’t appear. After he orchestrated Cena’s heel turn, he felt that the story moving forward should be between Rhodes and Cena. The Rock said, “I think The Final Boss’ work is done.”
Yes, The Rock wasn’t scheduled to make an appearance at WrestleMania, but a ton of fans in the audience at Allegiant Stadium and watching around the world hoped he would play a role on Sunday. The Rock didn’t fully rule out a return for the Final Boss character in the future.
