The summer box office is entering uncharted waters in the wake of The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day breaking records left and right. One Night Only and Super Troopers 3 found mixed results as the initial wave of counterprogramming, but there are more original ideas that could break out in their place. The End of Oak Street, from director David Robert Mitchell and producer J.J. Abrams, hit theaters on August 14. So how much business did the sci-fi mystery reel in over its first three days on the big screen?

The End of Oak Street Box Office
The End of Oak Street made $21.0 million at the box office between August 14 and August 16. Looking at other recent original PG-13 sci-fi movies, Mercy opened to $10.8 million in January, Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die opened to $3.6 million in February and Disclosure Day opened to $44.5 million in June. It’s also worth looking at non-Jurassic Park live-action dinosaur movies, such as Land of the Lost and 65. The former opened to $18.8 million in 2009, while the latter made $12.3 million when it debuted in 2023.
According to Deadline, The End of Oak Street made $2.5 in domestic Thursday night previews. That cash is technically counted as part of the film’s $8.1 million Friday gross. The End of Oak Street posted the fourth-largest domestic opening weekend by a wholly original film so far in 2026. That slots the film behind Hoppers, Disclosure Day and GOAT, but ahead of Send Help, Obsession, The Drama and Crime 101, among others.
Looking beyond the United States and Canada, The End of Oak Street has reeled in an additional $26.0 overseas. In total, the film grossed $47.0 million worldwide over its opening weekend. That hardly comes near Disclosure Day‘s $92.9 million global opening, but it is outpacing 65‘s $20.8 million start from a few years back. That film finished at $60.7 million, a mark The End of Oak Street should pass in short order.
