Big Brother Season 28’s third live eviction is tonight, and Jason is sitting on the block after a chaotic week that saw his game unravel in spectacular fashion. He’s escaped the block once already this season — can he do it again in the BB Blockbuster?

What happened last time on Big Brother Season 28?

Kamu’s backdoor plan worked. Despite LaLa picking Jason to play in the veto competition, Lyric won the Power of Veto and used it on herself, opening the door for Kamu to name Jason as the replacement nominee. The final block heading into tonight: Jason, LaTrice and Mallory.

But the real story of Wednesday’s episode was the chaos Jason created — and the chaos that was created around him. After Melody tipped off Kamu that Jason was telling every nominee he’d save them with the veto (breaking his deal with Kamu), the HOH decided to publicly blow up Jason’s game at Mallory’s tea party. It backfired to a degree — Dee thought the move put a bigger target on Kamu’s back than Jason’s — but the damage was done. Jason responded by banging a teapot through the house, interrupting diary room sessions and promising war.

Jason’s attempts at counter-strategy also fell flat. He tried to drive a wedge between the Red Corner (Kamu, Haley, Chuk) and the icons (Dee, Devens, Angela), but both sides compared notes and saw right through it.

What to expect on Big Brother tonight

The BB Blockbuster

Jason, LaTrice and Mallory each get one final shot to save themselves before the live vote. Jason has already proven he can deliver in these moments — he won the BB Blockbuster in Week 2 to take himself off the block when he was the secondary target behind Rome. He’s promised to win the Blockbuster again, win HOH next week and make the house pay.

If Jason pulls it off, the Toolshed’s second consecutive backdoor attempt fails at the final hurdle and Kamu has to watch one of his other nominees go home. If Jason doesn’t win, his time in the house is almost certainly over — there appears to be no path to surviving a vote against either of the other eviction nominees.

Where the votes stand

The math is straightforward. After Jason’s chaotic week — the broken veto deal, the failed wedge attempts, the teapot tantrum — there’s little appetite to keep him around. He’s burned bridges with Kamu directly, his scheming against the icons has been exposed for weeks, and even Dee, who genuinely likes Jason personally, said she can’t have him damaging her game.

LaTrice and Mallory should be safe as long as Jason remains on the block. Kamu admitted in the diary room that Mallory is his backup target, but there’s no guarantee that the rest of the house is aligned on that plan. There has been a weeklong debate on the live feeds over whether to send LaLa or Mallory in the event Jason wins the Blockbuster, with Kamu even telling Taylor he expects a Mallory-LaLa vote could come down a tie, requiring him to cast the tie-breaking vote (he said he would send Mallory home). So we could have our first close vote of the season.

Jason’s legacy — chaos to the end

Jason entered this house as a Drag Race veteran with genuine Big Brother superfan knowledge and the social skills to build alliances quickly. Three weeks in, his game is in ruins. The pattern never changed: say too much, to the wrong people, at the wrong time.

He plotted against the icons and bragged about it to Drew — who reported everything back. He promised Kamu he wouldn’t use the veto, then immediately told others he would — and Melody brought that back to the HOH. He tried to split the Toolshed’s two sub-alliances and they compared notes within hours. Every attempt at deception was undone by his own mouth.

And yet — Jason won the BB Blockbuster once already. He solved that stacking puzzle before anyone else could blink. If there’s one thing he’s proven, it’s that he’s capable of clutch competition performances when his back is against the wall. Counting him out before the Blockbuster would be premature.

LaTrice’s quiet danger

LaTrice isn’t the target this week, but her position is concerning. Kamu nominated her because she hasn’t talked game to him once all season. She ranked 11th in our power rankings after Week 2. Her main alliance, Mama’s Angels, lost Rome and is about to lose Jason. Her strongest connections are with Taylor (through the Honor Society) and the icons through Dee and Angela — but she hasn’t leveraged those relationships into any strategic influence.

LaTrice hasn’t necessarily done anything wrong, per se, but she has been getting on people’s nerves a bit. She’s become the house mom, and not necessarily in a way that is endearing herself to the other houseguests. If Jason wins the Blockbuster tonight, LaTrice suddenly could be in serious danger.

Mallory sees opportunity

Mallory is frustrated at being on the block for the second time, but she’s also clear-eyed about where she stands. She sees an opportunity sitting next to Jason, whose game is in freefall. She’s been actively trying to recruit Barrett away from the Toolshed. She correctly identified the icons as the biggest threats in the house (even if saying so to Kamu’s face was a mistake). And she has allies in the Giggle Girls (Melody, Lyric) who aren’t on the block this week.

If Mallory survives Thursday, she enters Week 4 with more options than people give her credit for. She’s shown fight — winning the veto in Week 1, surviving two trips to the block, and working to build connections outside the Toolshed’s reach. The question is whether she can translate survival into actual power.

The Toolshed’s third straight week

It hasn’t been perfect, but the Toolshed has dominated the game this season. Three consecutive HOH reigns (Dee, Devens, Kamu) and two top targets identified and eliminated if they send Jason home tonight. That’s dominant, but it’s also unsustainable. Devens has the Diamond Power of Veto in his back pocket for insurance, but the alliance’s internal issues — Angela’s paranoia about Drew, Barrett feeling like a bottom-rung member, Drew actively wanting the power structure disrupted — haven’t gone away just because they keep winning power.

At some point, someone outside the Toolshed will win HOH. And when that happens, three weeks of pent-up frustration from the other side of the house is coming all at once.
