Once again, the Power of Veto was set up to take on outsized importance, as Kamu worked to execute Big Brother Season 28’s second backdoor in a row. This time with Jason potentially earning a one-way ticket to the block.
Would Kamu be able to execute his plan? Or would the Power of Veto go unused, leaving his nominations in place and Jason safe for the week?

Big Brother Season 28 Week 3 Results
Sunday’s episode began Week 3 of the summer-long competition, as a new Head of Household was crowned. The Toolshed once again grabbed power for the week, with Kamu earning the HOH key.
Lyric won the Power of Veto, which was fine for Kamu’s plan to backdoor Jason. Before he could get to that, however, Kamu felt the need to blow up Jason’s game at the most dramatic tea party every thrown (sorry, Mallory). Did Kamu ensure that no one will want to work with Jason? Or did his tea party plan backfire?

Big Brother Season 28 Episode 11 recap
Pawns on the chessboard
Kamu is feeling good after the nomination ceremony, thinking that as long as Jason doesn’t get picked to play in the veto they have a good chance to send him home. Mallory and Lyric, on the other hand, are not feeling so good, tired of being placed on the block. And LaLa expected more from Kamu, but is ready to show the house that she’s a fighter.
Kamu wants to work to keep his relationship with Lyric in a good place, noting that no one is gunning for her and that his plan is for one of them to win the veto and take her off. She plays like she’s OK with him, but notes in the diary room that of course she’s going to put up a good front publicly but if/when she’s in power the tables will turn. Later, she breaks down with Mallory saying she’s tired of being on the block and she misses Rome. She feels like she can’t catch a break — she doesn’t want to lose Mallory and she doesn’t want to lose Jason either.
Meanwhile, Jason correctly predicts that Kamu’s goal is to backdoor him just like they did Rome last week. But, Jason says he’s not going to let that happen. LaLa says that scenario would not be good for her game, so she’s hoping that Jason will get picked so that he can save himself … and her.
Mallory also goes to visit with Kamu, who says he likes and respects her, admitting once again that his real target is Jason. He argues that any one of his noms sitting next to Jason stays, and he hopes they understand what he’s doing. He leaves out, however, that Mallory is his Plan B. Which she basically predicts could be the case, so she’s got to do what she does best and take herself off the block.
Diamond Devens’ disinformation campaign
Devens once again explains his Diamond Power of Veto to Dee. It’s a major advantage. But, this time last week, Angela came out in an egg costume. So, he and Dee go about throwing people off the scent. Angela thinks it’s Devens, and despite Dee feeling bad, she denies it. Angela is OK with it though, thinking Devens has it … but is withholding that information in a bid to protect Dee and herself. That works for Dee and Devens, especially given that Angela, despite her dramatic past, seems OK with the idea that some information is being withheld.
Drew is nervous that Jason might be the one with the power, which would be TERRIBLE for his game. Kamu is still full steam ahead, however, with his plan to backdoor Jason, knowing he can’t play scared. He wants Jason on the block so they can send him home without ever getting a chance to use a power (which he does not actually possess).
Put me in coach, I’m ready to play
We find out Jason met with Kamu and promised not to use the veto if he is picked to play and win, but he quickly tells Mallory that if he wins he’ll use it on her. He’ll say and do whatever works for his game — which Mallory has already clocked. She doesn’t trust Jason, but she’ll go on letting him believe that she trusts what he’s telling her.
Sure enough, when it comes to picking players for the veto comp, LaLa’s chip is picked and she chooses Jason to play. This is the worst-case scenario for Kamu, who is less than thrilled at this outcome. In the meantime, he continues to tell all the nominees that he’ll use the veto on them even as he admits he doesn’t know who he would use it on. Kamu meets with Jason in the hopes of keeping things good with him now that Jason is playing. Kamu even floats the idea that he might leave noms as they are, as he doesn’t want to name a fourth nominee.
For some reason, Jason tells Melody and Drew that he is willing to take someone off the block. Melody doesn’t trust Jason, and decides that she should let Kamu know that Jason is telling all the nominees that he’ll take them down if he wins veto. Of course, this breaks his deal with Kamu and reveals Jason is lying to everyone. Kamu says Jason is a slithery snake and if he did win the veto and use it, he would be declaring war. Once again, Jason said too much to the wrong person and it’s going to come back to bite him.
Lyric relishes her pickleball Power of Veto
The veto comp takes the houseguests back to the future, July 29, 2051 to be precise. Once there, they enter a ballroom with giant pickles in a tuxedo. It turns out that the Pickle Ball has become the ultimate sport in America, a combination of dance and sport. Competitors will have to take a spin with their pickle partner and then take up their pickle paddle and hit pickle balls into the score zone. The higher score wins the matchup and the last person standing after five rounds wins the Power of Veto.
It’s a dizzying competition, with LaLa being completely shut out, Kamu taking out Jason before falling to Mallory and Lyric putting on a show vs. Haley. But ultimately, Lyric fittingly makes her pickleball pro Rome proud by taking home the Golden Power of Veto, defeating Mallory by a final score of 82-47 in a battle of besties. We just know he’s watching this and kicking himself for being sent home before the pickleball comp.
Despite losing, the outcome couldn’t have worked out much better for Kamu. He saw Lyric as his pawn anyways and with her win, he still gets to put Jason on the block. All he has to do now is hope Jason doesn’t win the blockbuster.
Time to spill the tea
Jason decides that if he is going to be put up on the block, he’s going to cause some chaos. And that means trying to put a wedge between the two dominant trios he sees — Haley, Chuk and Kamu and Dee, Devens and Angela. Dee loves Jason, but if he’s going be messy and damage her game she can’t have it. So strike. Then he goes to Chuk and tries to sow dissent there, but it’s a transparent rookie move that falls flat. Strike 2. Later, Dee meets with Chuk and Haley and they compare notes on his pitches to each side to target the other. Strike 3. And now his sloppy gameplay might have him out.
Kamu wants to workshop a plan to explain why he plans to backdoor Jason. It feels unnecessary. It’s the same thing Kamu suggested to Devens last week, but Devens just chose to play it straight with Rome. Now, with Dee gassing him up, Kamu sees the perfect opportunity to blow up Jason’s game — a tea party being planned by Mallory. Oh, this is clearly going to go well.
After a pleasant spot of tea with everyone in their finest attire, Kamu decides to address “the elephant in the room” – his upcoming re-nomination and Jason’s deception regarding their veto deal. Using the information Melody gave him, Kamu tries to put Jason on blast and that sets off the fireworks.
Jason tries to explain he’s just playing a game, and LaLa asks what makes what he’s doing wrong? Jason says it isn’t, he’s just facing strong players and Kamu is purposely trying to make a show and make Jason a bigger target. Kamu said he did it to clear the air and it’s not intentional, but Jason says it was intentional to try and make Jason look bad when Kamu was already planning on putting him up on the block anyways. Dee, meanwhile, thinks this is not going as well as Kamu thinks it is and it may actually be putting a bigger target on his back, which she’s fine with.
It’s all very dramatic, all very awkward and pretty unnecessary. Kamu blew up Jason’s game, ruining the party and no one is feeling good. Oh and guess what, Jason says the party isn’t over yet. He’s ready to spill more tea. How you ask? Well, he’s irritated and not going to let the house talk to him like this. He’s ready to make some noise, literally and figuratively.
I can only imagine how annoying this got for the houseguests, with Jason walking through the house banging on the teapot to the point where he even interrupts Kamu’s diary room interview. But Kamu says he is unfazed and won’t be beat in mental warfare.
Opening the backdoor
Well, after all that the veto meeting seems pretty anticlimactic, no? Of course, Lyric chooses to use the Power of Veto on herself. And, as planned, Kamu puts up Jason as the replacement nominee.
Mission accomplished for Kamu, who says he is 2-0 against Jason already this week and it’s going to be 3-0 after he sends him home. LaLa sees it as another hit for their side of the house, with their structure crumbling. Mallory actually sees an opportunity sitting on the block with Jason, whose game is imploding. And Jason promises he is going to win the BB Blockbuster, win HOH and then we’ll see who is laughing.

KAMU won HOH on Sunday, making it three weeks in a row that a member of the Toolshed alliance took control of the house.
