The Mariners and Tigers play the second game of their three-game series on Saturday, June 6.

Seattle is a -136 moneyline favorite, while Detroit is +113 on DraftKings Sportsbook. The game total is set at over/under 8.5 runs.

Let’s get into a pick and prediction for this Mariners vs. Tigers game.

Mariners vs. Tigers prediction, preview

Saturday’s game between the Mariners and Tigers marks just the second game of Seattle’s 10-road trip. It’ll be a big test for a team that entered this series having won eight of its last nine games. Bryce Miller gets the start for game two of this series.

Miller made his season debut on May 13, so his sample size is rather small. Still, he’s been effective across four starts and 21 innings, posting a 1.71 ERA and 20-3 strikeouts to walks. It’s quite an improvement from last year’s 5.68 ERA, and he looks more like himself from 2024 (2.94 ERA). The Tigers’ offense is hot of late, scoring 10, eight, and seven runs in their sweep against the Rays. Miller could be in for a challenge on the road.

The other aspect to consider with Miller is his innings. He’s pitched at least 5.0 innings in all starts but hasn’t hit the 6.0 mark just yet. That’s likely due to him returning from injury, but it’ll be something to watch on Saturday considering the Mariners’ bullpen ranks first in ERA (3.01). Even if Miller doesn’t pitch six full frames, he’s got plenty of backup from the pen.

Can’t say the same for Detroit as the Tigers’ bullpen has the 20th best ERA (4.36). It puts more pressure on Keider Montero, who will be making his 12th start of the season. The 25-year-old has a 3.69 ERA, improving from his 4.00+ ERA in the past two seasons. He’s also on pace to shatter his innings from the previous two years, barring drastic changes.

Montero was a mixed bag in May. He had three starts allowing three, four, and four earned runs, but he also had three starts with one or fewer earned runs. The latter includes six scoreless innings, allowing two hits to the White Sox on May 31.

Mariners vs. Tigers Pick, Best Bet

Just like on Friday, I’m siding with Seattle. The Mariners are road favorites, which isn’t always my cup of tea, but the team has the advantage anyway. Miller is the more impressive pitcher even with a smaller sample size, and the Mariners’ bullpen will provide late relief to close the game.

Detroit’s offense had a good series against the Rays. Seattle should quiet it.

Best Bet: Seattle Mariners ML (-136)
