Rutgers -2.5 (-110) – 1.5-units: Rutgers off a hard fought loss at Nebraska, but I expect the defense and the running game to be ready for Wisconsin. The Badgers should feel relieved after putting up 52 points against Purdue, but this will be a totally different test. Good to play to -2.5 or anything -130 or better on the ML.
Iowa ML (-130) – 1.5-units: Iowa gave Ohio State all it could handle for a half, and then the wheels came off. Good bounce-back spot at home against a Washington team that’s off a huge home win over Michigan, and now takes its second long road trip in three weeks. Good to play out to -145 on the ML.
USC +5.5 (-110) – 1-unit: USC is off a very bad loss at Minnesota, setting up a desperation spot at home against Penn State. PSU is a perfect 5-0, but outside of a trip to WVU, the scores haven’t been all that impressive. Play to +3.5 on the Trojans.
Oklahoma +14.5 (-110) – 1-unit: Texas is getting a lot of hype as one of the only elite teams in the country that hasn’t slipped up. But their schedule is less impressive than you’d think — four cakewalk home wins and a trip to Michigan that continues to look more meaningless. Oklahoma isn’t great, but they’ll be ready to battle in a big rivalry game. Texas is also in a huge lookahead spot to Georgia next week. I do respect the Longhorns, though — wouldn’t go under +14.5 here.
Pittsburgh -3 (-110) – 1-unit: Pitt is fortunate to be sitting at 5-0 and ranked in the AP Top-25, as they’ve had a couple miracle victories. It likely catches up to them at some point, but I don’t think this is the spot. Cal is off a long road trip to FSU, and the only team the Seminoles has defeated this season. Then they came back home and hosted College Game Day, giving Miami all they could handle. Ultimately, the Bears let go of a massive lead late in the game, dropping the game by a point. Another long trip out east feels like a flat spot for Cal here, so I’ll trust the Panthers one last time here. Laying -3 is as far as I’ll go on this one.
Oregon +4.5 (-110) – 1-unit: The Ducks got off to an underwhelming start to the season, and haven’t been covering numbers at home. But I think that might be getting us a better number here. As of Friday afternoon, it’s interesting to see just 20% of the money on the Ducks, but the line take a steep drop. Oregon +3 is the worst number I would take on the Ducks.
NC State +5 (-110) – 1-unit: I put this one out on Twitter earlier in the week, and we’ve seen some movement. I’m good playing the Wolfpack down to +3.5 in this spot. It’s a desperation spot for a team that hasn’t lived up to the hype this season. But Saturday night at home against a solid opponent should be a good spot to get this defense going. NC State is a good team that can still show some life. Syracuse is off a wild overtime victory in Las Vegas, and now on the road once again.
West Virginia +3.5 (-110) – 1-unit: Big Saturday night home game for the Mountaineers against a highly ranked team. With the move to +3.5, I’ll buy in here. WVU runs the ball well, gashing Oklahoma State for 389 yards on the ground last week. Look for the Mountaineers to pound the rock at home and play good defense against an Iowa State team that got fortunate to steal a tough road game at Iowa earlier in the season.
