Rutgers played a grinder at Nebraska last week, but ultimately fell short, 14-7. Wisconsin coasted to a blowout victory over Purdue, 52-6. I expect things to look much different on Saturday afternoon when these teams face off in New Jersey. Let’s break this game down.
Wisconsin Badgers at Rutgers Scarlet Knights

Wisconsin’s season got a lot more difficult when Tyler Van Dyke went down against Alabama. Braedyn Locke took over at quarterback, and we’ve seen some good flashes and some not so good. The Badgers got destroyed by Alabama, but then had a bye week to adjust to the quarterback change. I think Wisco was able to catch USC off guard a bit, coming off a disappointing loss to Michigan. The Badgers held a double digit lead at halftime, but ultimately lost the game 38-21.
Wisconsin finally broke through last week in that 52-6 win over Purdue, but that says a lot more about just how dreadful this Boilermakers team is. The Badgers finally have something to celebrate, and now have to go on the road to face a very tough Rutgers team, likely pissed off about last week’s close loss to the Cornhuskers.
The Scarlet Knights have some tough wins this season, going to Virginia Tech and pulling one out, and taking down Washington at home on a Friday night. Even if Rutgers was outplayed, they did still find a way to make some tough plays and win that game. The Scarlet Knights are averaging just under 235 rushing yards per game at home this season, and I expect that to be the way that they control this game. Washington is a far superior team to Wisconsin this season, so pricing those games the same simply doesn’t make sense. That would indicate that Rutgers has done something to significantly lower its value over the last two weeks, which I don’t feel is the case.
Money has been pretty strong on Rutgers since this one opened. As of Thursday afternoon, our betting splits on DK Network have 52% of the spread tickets siding with the Scarlet Knights, making up 76% of the handle.
