New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who suffered a torn Achilles in Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills, is set to be medically cleared for Week 16 according to Adam Schefter. This is an incredible recovery from Rodgers given his injury, which normally takes between nine to 12 months to heal.
It’s still not known whether Rodgers would actually suit up for the Jets, who have not mathematically been eliminated from the playoff picture yet. New York has a game against the Dolphins Sunday, and losing that would put another major dent in their already slim playoff hopes.
Being medically cleared would mean Rodgers doesn’t risk re-injuring his Achilles, but he’d be coming into the week with no game action in months. It’s hard, even for the first-ballot Hall of Fame quarterback he’s sure to be, to get ready for a playoff push in live action. Even though he might be cleared, it’s hard to believe Rodgers would actually take the field. The Jets and the quarterback might focus instead on fully recovering for the 2024 campaign.
