Off the heels of a dismal 2025-26 campaign, this season is going much better for the Maple Leafs (8-6-2 18 pts). Still, simply improving isn’t enough for a devoted Toronto fanbase; this group is under pressure to make a playoff push. It’s a similar story for the Mammoth (9-6-0, 18 pts.), now in year three since coming to Salt Lake City. It’s been a solid start for Utah, hoping to make its second straight postseason appearance. Which of these would-be contenders will come out on top tonight?
Utah comes into this one as favorites (-142), with Toronto priced at +120 on the moneyline. The total is set at 6.5 goals. Read on for a Mammoth vs. Maple Leafs prediction and pick on DraftKings Sportsbook for Tuesday’s game, with puck drop scheduled for 7:00 p.m. EST.
Mammoth vs. Maple Leafs prediction, preview
Utah hasn’t been a model of consistency, alternating wins over the past few weeks. The team has gone 3-4 over its last seven contests, with two of those victories coming in overtime. Head coach Andre Tourigny is all about putting pressure on opposing clubs. The Mammoth are averaging 3.60 goals per game, sixth-most in the NHL this season. Four different members of this roster have already surpassed 15 total points. It all starts with captain Clayton Keller (4 G, 14 A), one of the league’s best playmakers. Fourth-year pro Logan Cooley (8 G, 9 A) has had early success as well. On the blue line, two-time Stanley Cup winner Mikhail Sergachev (5 G, 12 A) is putting up All-Star caliber numbers. This is an elite power play unit, ranking first in net PP% (32.7%).
It’s on the other side of the ice where things get tricky for the Mammoth. They’ve surrendered 3.47 goals per game, seventh-most in the league. Power plays have proven especially disastrous for Utah; the team ranks sixth-worst in net PK% (70.8%). An upper-body injury for veteran defenseman John Marino hasn’t helped matters, either. The Mammoth coughed up six goals during their most recent matchup, a road date with the Flyers.
In many ways, these teams mirror one another. Toronto hasn’t done a great job of limiting opponents either, allowing the league’s 13th-most goals per game (3.25). With that being said, the clubs have one major difference defensively. The Maple Leafs own the NHL’s fourth-best net PK% (92.9%). However, Jim Hiller’s squad has had some controversy at goaltender. Offseason signing Sergei Bobrovsky has gotten off to a rough start (3.29 GAA, .885 SV%). Backup Anthony Stolarz has been better by every metric through six games (2.66 GAA, .910 SV%). Regardless, it’ll be the two-time Vezina winner getting the nod on Tuesday.
Whether or not Bobrovsky is at his best, the Maple Leafs have enough firepower to pull off a win. The team is putting up 3.75 goals per game, fourth-most in the NHL. It’s none other than Auston Matthews leading the charge in that department. The former Hart winner has racked up 11 goals and 13 assists; his 24 points are sixth-most in the league. He’s not doing it alone, either. Former All-Star William Nylander is putting up 21 points on the right wing. Seven different players on Toronto’s roster have accounted for ten or more points this season.
Mammoth vs. Maple Leafs pick, best bet
There should be plenty of fireworks on Tuesday at Scotiabank Arena. These are two of the sport’s top scoring atacks, and there’s no reason to expect a drop-off this evening. Unfortunately for the Leafs, they come into this one shorthanded. John Tavares (lower-body) and Kirill Marchenko (lower-body) are injured, just to name a few. Utah won the last matchup between these two, a 5-4 victory on October 13th. Given Toronto’s notable absences, the Mammoth are poised for another successful outing tonight.
