Boxing superstar Canelo Alvarez returns to the ring on Saturday to challenge undefeated Christian Mbilli for the WBC super middleweight championship in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Alvarez (63–3–2, 39 KOs) enters as a challenger for the first time since May 2022, when he fell to light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol. He went on to win six straight fights before dropping a decision to Terence Crawford in his last fight in September 2025. On Saturday, Alvarez aims to recapture one of the belts he lost to Crawford.

Mbilli (29–0–1, 24 KOs) seized the interim WBC super middleweight title with a first-round TKO win against Maciej Sulecki in June 2025. He fought to a split draw in his first defense against Lester Martinez a few months later. Mbilli, 31, was elevated to full champion in January after Crawford was stripped of the title.

Ring walks for the main event are expected for 4:30 p.m. ET on DAZN PPV.

Canelo Alvarez vs. Christian Mbilli Results, Round-by-Round Updates

Official Result: Canelo Alvarez def. Christian Mbilli via Unanimous Decision (115–112, 116–111, 117–110)

And new. Canelo Alvarez has reclaimed the WBC super middleweight championship after defeating Christian Mbilli via unanimous decision. It was pure dominance from the Mexican veteran, who outclassed the previously undefeated champion. Mbilli had solid forward pressure but seemed too timid to fully commit to his shots and let his hands go against his formidable opponent.

6:44 p.m. ET | Too little, too late from Mbilli in Round 12

Mbilli landed multiple solid shots in the final round, but he was simply too timid to fully commit and let his hands go. Even Canelo was urging the champ to step on the gas pedal.

117–110 Canelo

6:40 p.m. ET | All Canelo through Round 11

The challenger looks bored out there. Canelo has completely figured out Mbilli and should be three minutes away from getting his hand raised.

108–100 Canelo

6:36 p.m. ET | Canelo in cruise control in Round 10

Canelo has full control of the ring right now, even walking down Mbilli at certain times in the round. It seems that Alvarez’s overwhelming resume is far too much for the much younger champion.

98–91 Canelo

6:32 p.m. ET | Canelo stretches lead in Round 9

Canelo might not be the champ in this one, but he sure is fighting like it. The veteran has leaned on his title-fight experience to stay out of harm’s way and outclass Mbilli.

88–82 Canelo

6:28 p.m. ET | Mbilli deducted a point in Round 8

Canelo was already winning Round 8 before absorbing another shot in the back of the head. He reminded the referee that it was the third time, giving the ref a nudge to deduct a point.

78–73 Canelo

6:24 p.m. ET | Canelo pulling away in Round 7

A thudding late-round uppercut punctuated Canelo’s best round of the fight so far. Mbilli continues to march forward but may need to let his hands go to capitalize.

68–65 Canelo

6:20 p.m. ET | Canelo tacks on in Round 6

The challenger’s defense and counter-striking continues to thwart the champion’s forward pressure and striking flurries.

58–56 Canelo

6:16 p.m. ET | Mbilli keeps marching forward in Round 5

Both fighters traded solid body punches throughout the round, though Mbilli’s forward pressure could give him Round 5 on the scorecards.

48–47 Canelo

6:12 p.m. ET | Canelo adds on in Round 4

Even on the back foot, Canelo continues to land the cleaner shots against Mbilli — this time a solid overhand right. A late flurry from the champ doesn’t seem to be enough to give him the nod in Round 4.

39–37 Canelo

6:08 p.m. ET | Canelo adds some showmanship in Round 3

While Canelo landed the better shots in the round, the highlight came from his signature defense and head movement. Backed up on the ropes, he motioned to Mbilli, as if to tell the champ, “bring it on.”

29–28 Canelo

6:04 p.m. ET | Mbilli answers back in Round 2

Mbilli stayed on the offensive and outworked Canelo in the second round. That said, there still haven’t been many shots of consequence through two frames.

19–19

6 p.m. ET | Canelo takes Round 1

In a methodical first round, Canelo Alvarez landed the cleaner shots at a more effective clip. Christian Mbilli had solid forward pressure but didn’t do much with it.

Jaime Munguia vs. Nikita Zon Result

Jaime Munguia def. Nikita Zon via Unanimous Decision

Jaime Munguia survived a mid-fight scare to defend his WBA super middleweight championship for the first time against Nikita Zon via unanimous decision (117–111, 2x; 116–112). The latter, a heavy underdog, showed his mettle by taking it to the champ in his first pro fight outside of Russia. The fight reached its climax in an explosive Round 6; both fighters landed heavy blows, but Zon nearly finished the fight. The Mexican champ buckled in from there, leaning on his championship-round experience to control the dance the rest of the way.

Rafael Espinoza vs. Ricardo Blandon Result

Rafael Espinoza def. Ricardo Blandon via third-round TKO

The undefeated Rafael Espinoza retained his WBO featherweight title with a third-round TKO win over Ricardo Blandon. The challenger was unable to continue due to a cut.
