Carolina visits Lambeau on Thursday after letting Tampa Bay bludgeon them for 258 rushing yards in a 43-13 home humiliation. Somehow, the 3-3 Panthers still lead the NFC South. Green Bay squandered their chances to beat Detroit, squeezing just seven points from four red-zone possessions in a 20-17 loss. The Packers are 4-3 and last in the NFC North, having developed an infuriating habit of driving into scoring range and leaving touchdowns on the field. Below is my preview, prediction, and pick for this week’s NFL game between the Green Bay Packers and the Carolina Panthers.
Here’s how I’ll play it. I’ll be pumping out these predictions for individual games all season, with plenty of coverage here on DraftKings Network. Follow my handle @dansby_edits for more betting plays.

Packers vs. Panthers prediction, preview
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur should turn quarterback Jordan Love loose on first down. Green Bay has floundered on the ground (-0.29 EPA/rush), with their backs succeeding on a league-worst 30.6% of runs. Even with Detroit averaging just 2.4 seconds to pressure, Love carved up the Lions on first-down passes (+0.83 EPA/play; 57.1% success rate). Now missing their starting center and right guard, the Packers need those throws before they get stranded in third-and-long. Love can find running back Josh Jacobs beyond the line of scrimmage, too (5.1 aDOT in his season debut).
Receiver Christian Watson has been ripping through Cover 3 for 2.71 YPRR, commanding targets on 26.9% of his routes against it this season. Carolina uses that coverage more than anybody (51.7% of coverage snaps), with their starting corners on IR and practice-squad cornerback Marco Wilson expected to be elevated. Love still has to decipher the rotations: Carolina disguises 40.1% of coverages, and he has managed just 6.5 yards per attempt against disguised looks. Fellow receiver Matthew Golden remains questionable (shoulder/foot).
Carolina quarterback Bryce Young has punished disguised coverages for 9.1 yards per attempt; the Packers disguise 39.5% of theirs. Offensive coordinator Brad Idzik should go after the boundaries with receiver Tetairoa McMillan, who plays 75.7% of his snaps outside. Green Bay has allowed 8.1 yards per target to outside receivers, against a stingy 5.1 in the slot. With running back Chuba Hubbard facing a front that held Detroit to 0.67 yards before contact per carry Sunday, Idzik should revisit the quick seam throws that helped McMillan ravage the Lions.
Panthers vs. Packers pick, best bet
The Panthers will start rookie tackle Monroe Freeling with right tackle Taylor Moton on IR and left guard Damien Lewis out. Young has faced pressure on a league-high 46.9% of dropbacks with Moton off the field, and taken 15 of his 17 sacks against four or fewer rushers. Green Bay has pressured opponents on 38.5% of nonblitz dropbacks, fourth-best. Defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon can attack this line with four and leave help underneath McMillan. His depleted front struggled in Detroit; against Carolina’s replacements, I still expect Young to spend too many possessions throwing out of long yardage.
Green Bay has been infuriating inside the 20, scoring touchdowns on just 46.2% of visits. Their kicking unit missed from 26 yards Sunday, and Detroit blocked their 35-yard try. Carolina has conceded touchdowns on 13 of 17 red-zone trips, though. I’ll lay the field goal and the hook with Love against those replacement corners.
Best bet: Packers -3.5 (-112).
Projected score: Packers 27, Panthers 20.
