Jaylin Noel is on a heater. He has climbed from 11.9 to 15.2 to 20.7 PPR points over the last three weeks, capped by a perfect four-catch, 107-yard performance with a touchdown against Jacksonville. The problem is that Houston’s receiver room is about to get crowded, with Tank Dell on track to make his season debut and Marvin Harrison Jr. now in the mix after arriving from Arizona. Find out whether you should start or sit Jaylin Noel in Week 7.
Jaylin Noel Start or Sit Advice for Week 7
Noel’s efficiency has been remarkable. He has caught 17 of his 21 targets, an 81.0% catch rate, and he is averaging 15.9 yards per target and 19.6 yards per catch. He has also added 110 YAC, so he is creating after the catch as well as winning down the field.
The Giants’ secondary is in rough shape. Safety Jevón Holland and cornerback Greg Newsome II are both in the concussion protocol, Paulson Adebo is on injured reserve, and safety Tyler Nubin and cornerback Colton Hood have been limited this week while working back from injuries. That is a lot of turnover in a defense that has already given up seven touchdowns and 20 red zone targets to receivers, both above the league averages of 5.1 and 13.4.
The Biggest Fantasy Risk for Jaylin Noel in Week 7
Volume is the core issue, and it is about to get worse. Noel is averaging just 3.5 targets per game, a 10.3% share, which means his recent run has been built almost entirely on efficiency. He drew just four targets in his 20.7-point game. That pace is hard to sustain.
The competition is growing. Dell has been a full participant in practice and is on track to return from injured reserve Sunday, adding another receiver to a room that already includes Nico Collins at 7.5 targets per game, Dalton Schultz with 37 targets and Xavier Hutchinson with 34. Harrison drew four targets in his first game with the Texans. Noel was already behind Collins, Schultz and Hutchinson in the pecking order, and the additions push him further down.
The Giants’ coverage also limits big plays. New York allows just 90.3 air yards per game and 12.2 yards per catch to receivers, both below league averages of 102.9 and 13.0, and only 42.0 YAC per game against a league mark of 48.3. Those numbers come with a caveat. The Giants have seen Dallas and the Rams, but also Tennessee, Arizona and Washington, and opponents have thrown 16% below league average against them. Still, the explosive plays that have driven Noel’s breakout are harder to come by against this defense.
Fantasy Outlook for Jaylin Noel in Week 7
Noel is a Borderline Start in Week 7, best used as a deep-league FLEX. His efficiency and recent trend are impressive, and the Giants’ banged-up secondary gives him a chance to keep the hot streak going.
The low target volume and a crowded receiver room keep him out of safer territory. With Dell returning and Harrison now involved, there is a real chance Noel’s role shrinks before it grows. Fantasy managers covering byes from the Chargers, Washington, Buffalo and Jacksonville can ride the hot hand, but those with a receiver attached to steadier volume should make that the safer call.
